Only Mawoyo, who despite working so hard to shave off the weight, can be be passed unfit. BT who is doing everything possible to steal Arjuna legacy before he retires, is never unfit! Particularly when all the other players, like Hami, do such a perfect job of concealing his lack of fitness in the absence of the star man.bayhaus wrote:That darned fitness test! So if Taylor doesn't pass this test? There is no reason for him to travel when he is unfit right?

Re: Taylor unhappy with cuts in coaching staff
This is true, and there is no need to panic cos he has been given some days to recover and then take the fitness test. If he fails then he stays and someone else replaces him.zimfan1 wrote:Its only reported in the Hearld which has never been the most reliable of sources, i will wait to read the Daily News or Zim News Day more i start to panic that this news is true.

I guess it wouldn't be a regular tour if Zimbabwe didn't axe one of its best players days beforehand.

THE Zimbabwe national cricket team left the country for their tour of West Indies without skipper Brendan Taylor who is down with viral infection.
According to team manager Lovemore Banda, Taylor arrived not feeling well last Thursday from Bangladesh where he was playing in the Bangladesh Premier League and was sent for blood tests last Friday with the results expected yesterday. Banda said the doctor had instructed Taylor to only do light training until 20 February.
“We are leaving for West Indies with 14 players, Brendan Taylor is remaining behind and will join the team later. We are not sure at this stage when he will be able to travel,” said Banda.
Taylor will have to undergo a fitness test as soon as he recovers and if he passes it that will pave way for him to get on a flight to West Indies. Depending on his rate of recovery, Taylor could be in West Indies on time to lead Zimbabwe in their first One-Day International on Friday.
Another player, who was playing in the BPL, Hamilton Masakadza, arrived in the country and passed a fitness test and left with the rest of the team for West Indies. In the event that Taylor does not fully recover on time, Masakadza will lead the team.
Zimbabwe take on West Indies in three ODIs, two Twenty20 Internationals and two Tests, a tour which is due to end on 24 March.
Craig Ervine, Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Tinotenda Mutombodzi and Natsai Mushangwe will return home at the conclusion of the limited overs matches to be replaced by Sean Williams, Raymond Price, Timycen Maruma and Graeme Cremer.
Zimbabwe squad for limited overs matches
Brendan Taylor (captain), Hamilton Masakadza, Vusumuzi Sibanda, Tinotenda Mawoyo, Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara, Christopher Mpofu, Prosper Utseya, Regis Chakabva, Malcolm Waller, Keegan Meth, Craig Ervine, Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Natsai Mushangwe.

From Mehluli Sibanda who is close to many of the players therfore i would class it as a reliable source.
However the article suggests unlike the Hearld that Taylor will fly to the Windies after he has recovered.

Great idea. Taylor would, in all probability, fail the fitness test irrespective of the bug, and they can drop him under that veil and settle scores for the Facebook outburst. If only these remarkable ideas were used for constructive purposes...

Why not quit now? Mawoyo has already been dropped for failing a fitness test before!jimbo wrote:If taylor does not tour I am boycotting watching the matches...
So when Mawoyo was dropped for failing a fitness test, it was due to some sick idea?CrimsonAvenger wrote:Great idea. What of when he failed the test, but was selected. What was that called?

LOL We either put someone in Coventary at 1@ World cup, or Tymcyn at 3 last WI tour or we take someone out Vusi vs Aus and maybe this.eugene wrote:I guess it wouldn't be a regular tour if Zimbabwe didn't axe one of its best players days beforehand.
Taylor was the one who presented that he was ill. ZC are not making this up. He has gone to the doc and given time to chill and then he will take a fitness test. A fitness test is there to ascertain whether you are FIT enough to play. If you fail it it means you are not fit enough to play. So why should you boycott when the best team (all who are fit enough to play) will walk onto the park?jimbo wrote:If taylor does not tour I am boycotting watching the matches....... best team on the park please
What message does the captain send to the team when he is always the only one who fails the fitness test but still plays(even though it sclear that if you fail a fitness test you do not play). Even white franchise players have complained about why Taylor gets a bye each time. Initially you had to pay a fine if you did not pass a fitness test but they obviously stopped taht as they see it did not work. Mawoyo was definitely going to be a casualty if he hadnt lost those 16kgs. I would like to hear fitness trainer Lorraine Chivandire view on his attitude towards getting fit.CrimsonAvenger wrote:Great idea. This is not a veil but a genuine reason for being dropped from the team, they just have not been fair with applying it. It just means it is no longer a selective process. We can also argue that Taylor knew he would not pass the fitness test so he made those rants to make it appera that he was being punished for the outbursts. And now thanks to Coltart you have put ZC on the back foot and are now applying the law which they applied selectively. The chickens have come to roost for Taylor, no more preferential treatment, get fit and get with the programme. BUT if he does fail the test and he goes then we know our Trade offs are still at play and we can rest assured that nothing will come from that summit, it will just be window dressing.CrimsonAvenger wrote: and they can drop him under that veil and settle scores for the Facebook outburst.
