After Mire departed my first thought was shouldn't Chakabva come in right away: him and Taylor, consolidation time knowing that we lose wickets in batches? So reassuring had they put up another 30 then asked Chigumbura to follow and finish.

The brainstrust haven't showered themselves in glory today. Quite a few poor tactical decisions.

I still can't get past that powerplay. For the first time in the series we had two guys forming a good partnership - the stage was set for them to take advantage of the powerplay because they were set.

You could see it coming a mile away - wickets would fall, new batsmen would be getting their eye in and the powerplay would come and go.

A potential win which was thrown away by our senior players and our moreso by our 'technical' team. Maruma at 3? Moor at 8?
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Should have won that game. Pretty much every single player except Chatara and dare I say Kamungozi... had they done 1% better, probably would have meant a different outcome.

Can't agree more.

In fact, take away the two Maruma and Sibanda overs and we were close.

Actually, take Maruma out and we could have probably won with a 10 men team.

Maruma is a joke. He is seriously not good enough. What does Ervine have to do to get a game. Is he even in this squad or?

I feel really sorry for Moor. He isn't getting a fair crack of the whip down there at number 8. Chigumbura needs to start scoring runs when it bloody well matters

Another pretty abject showing. Unfortunately, I feel that this series is representative of the position that Zim cricket finds itself in. For all the criticism of Mangongo, I do not feel that he is the major problem here, this is simply the level that this team is capable of playing at (in these conditions). No doubt, I would like to see an experienced former test cricketer as coach, but blaming the results of this tour on Mangongo is just as daft as giving him the credit for the Australia win. Simple scapegoating, that misses the wider issues at stake.
