Our best chance of an early breakthrough tomorrow is if Evans opens. We saw a couple of their batters walking at him to disrupt his length, he really bothered them, surely get him on immediately for a 6 over spell? Not sure who should be at the other end, probably Blessing.
The commentator expressed surprise that he can bat, clearly drinks with Mawoza. I'll say it again- extremely talented batsman, never had much time in the middle because he bats down the order in domestic, which he shouldn't, and has made some rotten shot selections when he has had his few opportunities.
I see Curran used his time at the presser to vent about not being in the T20 squad. If its frustrating for fans, imagine what it's like for the players, they know who is who in our set-up.
Bennett hasn't had a score in the last 7 innings. If we had more tests lined up he'd theoretically be under scrutiny. They've worked him out a little as he does have some glitches and they're highlighted in red ball. In fairness a few of those were NZ and SA which is about as tough as it gets, but he needs to go up a notch if he's going to open. He had a decent start to test cricket, but against tight bowling he's vulnerable just outside off.
If Knackers does eventually play, its looking more like Bennett is the most vulnerable in this format as an opener. Probably not a popular observation, but it's fact.
I don't think we play red ball for a while after this and the likes of Curran and Welch are going to have to watch a couple of guys that they are literally twice as, good as go and enjoy some quality white ball games.
I heard a rumour that Tom Curran was making polite enquiries. That would be interesting, maybe not so much for Evans. Despite Curran's vast experience I still put Evans ahead of him, even with the bat Brad has a higher ceiling. That may induce a snicker, but I stand by that. The Curran name and some heavies punting for him would likely fast track him. They could of course play both of them, but that's not going to happen.

Just listened to Evans' presser as well.
He plays like every gsme could be his last because of injuries and and and ....whatever.
I will bet Blessing, Richie, etc etc dont have those pressures.
So wrong.

Not many would have thought Ben would be the first of his brothers to score international centuries a few years ago. Probably the one with the lease natural ability of the three when younger but must be a hell of a hard worker to have got where he is. So impressive and his Dad would be so proud.

I can’t remember the last time we won a Test by an innings. It must be decades ago. We’ve got a real chance today - come on!!!
