I guess Gumbie has been learning from Compton. Not even 1 prospect had a decent outing. They just aren't ready and need more of this to improve.
Another point that's becoming obvious to me is that whether you like him or not, Mutumbami is the best wicket keeper option we have right now. Out of the guys they should be considering. If they picked Tsiga over Gumbie then they don't see him as an option clearly

Well Tsiga is the 2nd choice keeper for Rocks and Gumbie is literally the 3rd choice keeper for Mountaineers. So neither should be considered to keep wicket for the national team, by default surely. The fact that people might consider Gumbie as a potential international opener/specialist batsman highlights the dire straits we are in.TapsC2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 12:00 pmI guess Gumbie has been learning from Compton. Just pray Bedders doesn't tee off
Whilst it's bitterly disappointing its a reality check ZC need.
We need a HPC like yesterday. We need experts running our game, it cannot be run as a family business. We've made great strides, but we're not even half way.

Meanwhile Muzarabani is now a full-time net bowler who seems to bowl in training every single day and yet never plays any form of match ever. He's at OH again today apparently training on the other ground.
He's been fit for a month - surely he needs some kind of match practice at some point?

Doesn't make sense at all. 1 moment the guys complain about lack of games.. Next it's there are too many games and we are getting injured. I don't see why guys like Burl amd Blessing couldn't have played.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 12:06 pmMeanwhile Muzarabani is now a full-time net bowler who seems to bowl in training every single day and yet never plays any form of match ever. I'm pretty sure we will see stronger teams for the shorter stuff

No matter what the past perception is about Gumbie. Surely he needs a little bit of consideration. He's been consistent in the Logan Cup. And now in this game too. Can't see anyone else putting their hand up.

Joylord on 83 and his strike rate has improved.
Thoroughly deserves what would be his best hundred of his career.

And they've trotted out 8 decent bowlers
I'd forgotten about Douthwaite. He's sharp and he's 3rd change for them.
