Zimbabwe Under 19's Tour of South Africa's

The Zimbabwe under 19 team have left for a short tour of South Africa where they will play three matches against the Cape Cobras under 19 side. Not sure if will be get any scores from these matches but its good to see that the boys will be going into the world cup on the back on some competitive games.
Im feeling good about the world cup, i think we can spring a surprise or two!!!!

The feeling is mutual Zimfan1. I've seen some excellent Zimbabwe under 19 sides in the past, icluding Taylor, Taibu, Gremer, Campbell Macmillan etc. But this squad has got great balance. And it's nice to see that there's a nice combination of black and white players,:) that's always great to see. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Dylan Higgins and Callum Price bolw. I think Price is a serious talent, I've seen him bowl and he's quicker than one may think. ( Anout 80-82mph) and we all know what Higgins can do.

Good start to the tour but we need PJ Moor to get a few innings under his belt as he has been out of cricket for a while.
But well done for ZC for sorting out lots of practise the boys.

Yes i agree with you on that note Jamthala. Dylan Higgins in my mind is the stand out player in this side, but he's backed up strongly with some serious talent as Price and Waller showed in this game. I'm really excited for this tournament, i'm looking forward as to how these chaps get on.

Franchise Cubs get down to business Siyabulela Simetu from Western Cape
The second Annual Cricket South Africa (CSA) U18 Franchise Cubs week gets under way in the Boland on Monday, giving the country’s young hopefuls yet another opportunity to go up a rung on the cricket ladder. The six Cubs franchise teams; Diamond Eagles, Cape Cobras, Warriors, Titans, Lions and Dolphins, together with Zimbabwe and a Cubs Invitational XI will be taking part in the five-day tournament.
Cape Cobras coach, Henry Williams said: “This week is a great opportunity to see some of the next generation of U19 stars in action. Most of them will qualify for the U19 World Cup in 2012 and this is the time for them to be raise their hands so they are noticed early on,” Williams.
The players will not only be competing for places in CSA’s U18 Talent Pool, which will be identified during the course of the week, but will be playing for pride, with each Franchise team looking to make their mark. Warriors Cubs were one of the strongest teams last year and are keenly looking to continue with the same kind of form.
“The players had such a great time last year and those that returned this year are wiser and are aware of the high standards. This week is a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to experience how things work at senior franchise cricket and helps them maintain a professional standard at an early age. The competition at the week is extremely tough so hopefully we can come away with some great performances, ” said Warriors Cubs Coach, Mfuneko Ngam.
The bulk of the players are fresh from the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola U19 week last month and form part of CSA’s Talent Acceleration Programme (TAP) and player identification programme.
“The most important thing about this week is for the young cricketers to showcase their talents. We want as many talented players to be involved in CSA’s development pipeline processes to produce quality cricketers who will go on to play for SA U19,” said Diamond Eagles coach and National Scout, Shaheed Alexander.

Afraid to say the boys lost today, batting first Zimbabwe could only manage 167 which the Chevrons knocked of after 43 overs.
But they are playing the Cape Cobras tommorw so lets hope for a good comeback

The batting is a real worry. Even when the team do manage to post a decent total, it is almost always down to most of the side chipping in with 20s and 30s.
It's excellent that they have played as many games as they have in the last couple of months, no Zim junior team has previously had so much experience, however, I don't recall a single 70+ innings by any of the batsmen in any of the games...
