I'm pretty sure that no one get specialised training in this domain in Zim. At a time when our bowlers are far from being world beaters, a good keeper should guarantee one or two wickets a match...this would be a worthwhile investment, whoever rises to the top.
I remember reading somewhere that Wayne James did indeed conduct extended sessions with Regis, Richie and PJ prior to the NZ / SA A series...

Our keepers consistently cost us wickets. If there was a place to quickly improve our stats it is this one. We miss more than one chance per game on average - not including half chances. Missing top order wickets makes our bowlers and the team worse than they need to be. The fact we are considering Moor, Waller, and whoever as keepers instead of Regis and Richmond shows how poor our standards are. It is time to pick the best keeper in the country and train him to bat, rather than the other way around.

If we can tolerate STONEAGE MENTALITY and Melon Head should we can tolerate Rabada. :)
I have this mental image of watermelon as the black ZIMDOGGY. They're both offensively entertaining, just from different viewpoints - and importantly, their posts are short.

hmm was something else entirely. Having to read and mod his never-ending posts for too long at a time would lead to suicide eventually.

(You can take this as an official confirmation that no, I won't be banning watermelon. Unless he changes tack and earns it.)

Firstly, Who are you?

Secondly, yes us Shonas spelll it this way. We are allowed to drop double letters at short if we feel the need. We are a busy people and cant afford double letters when you get the point.

If mods REALLY feel the need to ban people, look no further than Train Driver and Flakeman.

Their Troublemaking and Anti shona sentiment make me shiver.

Hi,
Allow me to introduce myself. But this isn't e-harmony. Don't get any ideas! Ha ha, just joking.
But first, thank you for that insight into Shona's lifestyle. Now I understand, I won't question it again.
I'm an Aussie. A cricket tragic. Probably older than most contributors. I recall the Rest of the World tour of Australia in 1971/72 & fell in love with the flavor of international cricket then.
I was only a park cricketer but played competitive cricket in 7 countries (never been to Africa sadly) &,courtesy of my work, I have been able to rub shoulders with some superstars of yesteryear.
I believe in the expansion of cricket & my current hobby is collecting stats on the major world wide first class competitions. So, while you can find plenty of data, I believe I can fill a void by supplying data such as most runs, most wickets, most wicket keeping dismissals for many first class teams. So far, I have covered Zimbabwe (Logan Cup), Bangladesh (National cricket league & BCL), New Zealand (Plunket Shield), Australia (Sheffield Shield), India (Ranji Trophy & Duleep Trophy), Sri lanka(National club Championship & Inter Provincial Matches) & the West Indies (Inter colonial matches & domestic competition matches). Pakistan domestic competitions are a current work in progress.
Most of posts are of a statistical relevance. I post that Hamilton & Shingi Masakadza currently hold the the most runs & most wickets records respectively in the Logan Cup. But I can't post as to why Hamilton lost the captaincy & Shingi is rarely selected as I don't understand local politics or culture. I will post opinions on Zimbabwe on the world stage because I recall its beginning on the international stage. You have been treated by the ICC as a bastard child. In the 80s, Zimbabwe applied for test status. You were denied. England then secured Graeme Hick & Peter Rawson went to SA. Then, as SA was welcomed back into world cricket, the ICC gave you test status as they feared cricket would die & your best players would seek opportunity elsewhere.(See the irony & history repeating).
I believe the ICC has hung you & left you in the too hard basket.
I'm also a traditionalist although I follow any cricket. I believe in cricket as a reflection of life with the final lesson being anything worth getting is worth working hard for.
I love reading this forum but really worry about the level of hate that can be generated by the difference of opinion. I really don't like the racist remarks but, hey, that's the way of the world.
Well, I think I've said enough. Great to meet you & here's to a long association on this forum.
