Zim under 19's, future stars ??
When i write a topic i like it to be about the players: how they can improve, where they are at the stage of their career and who should replace who. Well i find it fascinating to think who'll actaully progress from this current Zimbabwe under 19's side to the national side within 12 months. I think Dylan Higgins is a deffinet candidate as he's an excellent leg spinner and more than handy with the bat. Possibly P Moor... ?? I know he's not had the ebst of years with the bat but he was awarded the best up and coming prospect in Zimbawe last year dont forget (In cricket that is). So who else can you see playing in the Crimson Red ??

i think nathen waller is goin to be a asset in the future.
he has impressed me every game he has played. his a very good bowler.
also Andrew LIndsey has made some very decent scores to.

Andrew Lindsay has looked quite good in recent matches, and Nathan Waller's medium pace has been steady and productive. We need to see more of Tendai Chitara and Callum Price to judge them, I suppose. Mutombodzi is another one who can keep improving.

Tendai Chitara and Nathan Waller (provided he do not want to become Nel 2 or Watson 2 as far as sledging is concerned)

Do you think the selectors will condiser taking any of these youngsters to the Wotld T20 ?? I think Nathan Waller is serously pusshing for a claim.

Re: Zim under 19's, future stars ??
Dean Mazhawidza looked good in the first match. I think most of these players need a lot more domestic cricket under their belts. Perhaps the only advantage of fast tracking them into the national side is to stop them defecting to another country.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Yeah good pont Eugene. A good example of this would be that of Kyle Jarvis.eugene wrote:Perhaps the only advantage of fast tracking them into the national side is to stop them defecting to another country.

None of these players are ready yet for International cricket.
Zim needs to produce about 8 players a year so here are my 8 (I have not considered Waller or Price as they qualify for the U19's again next season)
Batsmen:- Moor & Maudzi (not in the WC squad I presume as the selectors believe he is not a one day playe- however a Century and a 50 already for the Moutaineers suggest he has some quality)
Wicketkeeper/batsmasn:- D.Mazhawidza
Spinners:- S.Mugava, D.Higgins, N.Nushangwe & T.Mutombodzi (Mugava has been the U19's most consistent bowler this season & the other 3 have all recorded excellent figures in the Logan Cup)
Pace Bowler:- T.Chitara (the only Zim bowler to bowl over 80mph in the 2 matches)
The ZCU should contract these players and ensure they get to a franchise where their talents will be best utilised/required (eg. its madness that Zims best 2 off spinners, Utseya & Maruma are both at the Mountaineers)
I would suggest the following:-
Maudzi & Chitara remain at their home province the Moutaineers, Mushangwe also to stay if one of Utesya or Maruma leave.
Mazhawidza & Mugava to the Rhino's
Mutombodzi stays at the Eagles
Moor & Higgins to the Rocks
No one for the Tuskers, although Steven Chimhawaha could feature and a lot of the current Under 18 stars (Van Rensburg, Mamhiyo, Enwerem & Chitate) are from Bulawayo.
