Will the FC start this year?

Post by Googly »

Players are on standby to commence games this morning apparently.
What are the unforeseen circumstances preventing games? Today it may be the inclement weather, but what has caused the recent delays? I heard they were short of cash to put up players in hotels? If they don't get going in the next few days they are going to have to reconvene next year. Zimbos have gotten used to extended Christmas breaks and there are going to be some grumpy players if they have to take to the field much beyond next week.
A very wet season may be on the cards so that may be the excuse they need for further cancellations.

Players may travel but may not play as their promised 16 December pay day has come and gone with no payments yet made or have not reflected in players accounts

ZC just tweeted that they expect the games to start tomorrow.

I've just heard that ZC are under enormous pressure from ICC to play a game this year, even if players travel and it gets rained off it will suffice.

So an 11th hour strike would really put a spoke in the wheel.

ZC will be praying for rain because if players don't take to the field on account of non payment it will be an issue. Mutare outfield is currently very wet but should dry later, weather permitting, so there's a good chance an official will call it off prematurely. I don't know about other venues though.

Rhinos on their way to Bulawayo at the moment, apparently a lot of weather about.

I spoke to Bothwell this morning, they are due to leave Kwekwe at lunch time. He did add, rather ominously, "hopefully we'll get to play." So they don't even know.

I really don't miss this.
