While we are at it, let's get Colin Bland as a specialist fielder too. I'm sure at 79, he is still more athletic than some of our butter-fingered fitness lacking slow-pokes.

Lol, thanks for the vote of confidence. I would if I could Googly. Would love to see cricket flourish in the West Indies (including the territories not under the WICB), New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, East Africa, Afghanistan, Ireland, Namibia, Malaysia and Singapore....

As I outlined in another thread though, perhaps the solution could be achieved with people in the country already:

Perhaps the solution is to be found in the experience of another African nation over a decade ago....Kenya. The KCA was discredited and and new body organized to replace it, Cricket Kenya. Eventually the ICC mediated and facilitated new elections and a new constitution for the KCA which smoothed the transition over to Cricket Kenya formally. If the ICC suspended (but not demoted) ZC over misuse of funds, but set up a facility so that local Zimbabwean clubs could present their audited expenses to the facility and have those bills paid from ZC's share of ICC funding then this could enable local club personnel and cricketers who aren't corrupted to stay in the game so to speak and allow them to organize a rival body (let's call it "Cricket Zimbabwe")...or rather a pressure group instead of a rival body and call it the "Cricket Zimbabwe Committee" or "Cricket Reform Committee" with the aim to push for new elections in ZC and a new constitution which would wind up ZC and replace it with "Cricket Zimbabwe".

I don't think that's feasible. The takeover of ZCU was politically motivated. The ruling party's tentacles are everywhere and their influence permeates all sectors of society. That's an understatement, it's not influence, but more an iron grip. The current ZC deck may perhaps be reshuffled at some point but we will continue to play with Zanu cards for as long as the party remains in power. Are there any good Zanu administrators out there? If there are, they've kept their lights under a big dark bushel so far.
The reality is that ZC is something that generates$15- $20 million a year. In a Zimbabwean context that's going to attract ruthless people that will stop at very little to gain the ascendancy and to remain firmly entrenched, which is what has been engineered. This latest failure by the team may well precipitate an "internal" power struggle. These are mostly people with little interest in cricket, but an eye on the position of influence and of course the money. Temba Mliswa's unsuccessful attempt at a cricketing coup is a fine example.
We're right in the middle of a monumental political crisis, fueled largely by a financial catastrophe that seems insurmountable at present. One thing is certain, there's going to be change, but whether it's good or not remains to be seen. We can only observe and try to survive. The Presidential succession struggle has hotted up and most of the players have shown their hands and it would appear that we are playing the end game. The 2018 elections are looming and whilst Zanu have used whatever means necessary to remain in situ, this time around they are really under the pump by being unable to finance their campaign. Having said that, the opposition are so fragmented and useless that they seem incapable of mounting any meaningful opposition. Another GNU (government of national unity) is a possible outcome if the opposition could unify and it would not be the worst outcome. We've all had to lower our horizons and what we all want is peace and stability and a vestige of normality. It's undeniable that change to our cricket is directly linked to what happens in the political arena.

I predict Klusener will be the next scapegoat amongst the coaching staff.

there is definitely a possibility Lance will be made the scapegoat especially considering how the bowlers were decent over the whole series. I think we should keep everybody this time round.

saw Taibu on twitter engaging the public and saying criticism doesn't help without solutions..somebody asked him if he was in contact with Welch Byrom Higgins etc and he was saying he has been trying to get their contact details. anybody who has them could really help us out here. you never know

If he says he's been trying to get hold of people but doesn't have their contacts then you have to take everything he says and does with a large pinch of salt. In the era of social media you could track down anybody on the planet in 10 minutes.

It was insane having Klusener as a batting consultant in the first place - a lower order slogger in his own playing days (his stats are heavily boosted by the unnaturally huge number of not out innings he had). We haven't even produced any effective sloggers since he has taken over - if that was the idea. So, its high time to get a proper batting consultant if we are going to have one of that kind and are paying him huge amounts.

More objections, this time from Bangladesh. The ICC are going to have a hard time passing any of the new resolutions. They need 8 votes for each item.
