“We don't expect to win the series, but we might snatch one result.
Our realistic objective is to be competitive. It is of paramount importance that we are, so as to improve our credibility. Failure in this regard would be a serious setback to our efforts and plans.”

Thats not what you want to hear, We could pull a few suprises really if we buckle down. we beat WI at home in a game with a weaker squad in my opinion

...and against a stronger WI side, too. I'd like to think we'll do quite well in this series, even allowing for it being away...

Come on Mr Cambell!!! NO! Realistically we can win against this weak WI team, especially if Gayle doesnt fire. Zim must be more positive
Re: West Indies, India help Zimbabwe back to Test cricket
Mr cambell is sounding like kevin curran circa 2006. We've come a long way since those days so lets have a bit more positivity about us!! Go Zim

Re: West Indies, India help Zimbabwe back to Test cricket
I think there's some expectation management going on here, now that Zim cricket is back in the spotlight. From other interviews that Campbell, Houghton et al have done, there's no doubt that they believe we have the talent and will be back in Test cricket soon enough. If Campbell had gone off about how well we were going to do against the Windies and it didn't come out that way, the naysayers would have had a field day - talk more modestly and beat those expectations, and it's the continuing remarkable recovery of a side that was in tatters.
Difference between Campbell and Curran talking about 'being competitive' is that I believe Curran was happy with his side just 'being competitive'. I doubt Campbell, Streak and Houghton will be.

Yeah i agree. We've got a much more stable squad now. With the likes of Taylor, Coventry, Mazakadza, Taibu and Lamb in the squad, there's a solidity about it. And on the bowling front, we've come on leaps and bounds from the dark days of 2006maehara wrote:Difference between Campbell and Curran talking about 'being competitive' is that I believe Curran was happy with his side just 'being competitive'. As you all are big supporter of zim.but try to think from mind not from heart.
Zim have no pace strength who can trouble world leading batsman like gayle, sarwan and chanderpaul.Cremor
Utseya and price are good bowler, but if they are hammered by pollard, smith and gayle than see result.
Now indies both backbone players sarwan and chanderpaul start playing again.

You're not exactly correct there Jamthala. If u don't think 90mph is quick (bowled by Kyle Jarvis), well that your opinion. Mpofu isn't slow. He bowls between 130-137kph. And Cremer and Price will do their best to restrict the Windies batsmen. Utsea should not be in this squad. He hasn't warented his spot and his captaincy is mind bobbling at times. Give Pricey the captaincy and Zimbabwe will be laughing
