It will be interesting to hear you guys take on Forster Mutizwa. He had some of the best domestic stats but just had the door slammed in his face by none other than Taibu some personal issue there. But is seems the other selector also followed suite and completely ignored him. Seems he has retired now at 35 and has moved into umpiring. I really thought he had one or two more seasons in him.
Forster had been shunned long before Taibu & Streak got in power, his last ODI was in 2011, Taibu and Streak didn't start until late 2016

Taibu was asked on twitter about Mutizwa and his reply that the selectors wanted players that could score hundreds Not fifties in Logan Cup, fair comment although they contradicted themselves by picking Tari who at that stage didn't have a professional 100 to his name.

Yeah, one should either have a solid domestic record (like, say, Ervine when he broke through) or should be oozing with potential so that we ignore domestic record and just pick them (like a Musakanda or a Madhevere) and see how it goes.

Taking the same comparison, it would be like picking a Mayank Agarwal with loads of domestic runs and a Shubman Gill with talent and potential in India's case. Both good choices, and how selection should weigh things. Not saying it is all hunky dory in BCCI's case, but indication of a good thought process in these examples.

In case of ZC, we simply don't seem to have a Mayank Agarwal or a Manish Pandey among the playing community. Simple as that. So, for us, the flavour of the season becomes the guy we try out. Roy Kaia, hence, seems deserving of a chance for being significantly ahead of others. For the Gill comparison, we are looking at Madhevere, Shumba, etc. Let us see how that one turns out. Given that the first type are definitely absent, we can only hope for the second type to succeed...
The difference would be, India actually coach and develop the players, whether it is a player performing in FC, or has the talent and potential and gets thrust in. We don't do that. We see a guy do well domestically for a few games and then put him in the international team, and expect miracles to happen.

We don't train players at domestic level to be ready for international cricket. That is what should be happening. Then when they get picked for int cricket, we should still be developing and coaching them. Getting them to learn the game at that level by not just playing, but putting in the hours in training, watching the other teams, and doing some theory.

Yeah, this has definitely improved in the last decade or so. Rahul Dravid is primarily responsible for the unending talent we see emerging - as U19 coach and as coach at National Cricket Academy. The guy just works with zero limelight.

Just one such person with passion for the game and deep understanding of the game can do wonders in the domestic circuit for Zim too. Just one... :(

Haven't we been through this process a few times. First it was the Campbell academy, then the Streak one, then the Brent one, then the Rising Stars, then the Campbell youth team...all of them getting shut down by ZC

I think Brent comes closest in comparison. Even if one cancels Campbell and Streak, Brent has been part of both pre and post rebel eras, brought out results straightaway for the Mountaineers, set up the academy and helped a lot of young cricketers. All to be just brushed aside. The guy has the game at heart and has passion and knowledge.

I've been updating my Logan Cup FC records & have a few trivia questions.
I'll start with bowling.
There are 29 players who have taken 100 Fc wickets in the Logan Cup. Only one bowler has never taken 5 wickets in an innings. Who is it?
Secondly, only one bowler who has taken 100 Fc wickets in the Logan Cup has never worn Zimbabwe colours in any format, ie test odi or 20/20. Currently, his whole career is at Logan Cup level. Who is it?
They are not the same bowler. Two different answers.
