Pro50 Championship Rhinos vs Mountaineers

Post by tawac »

This one can be anyone's game depending on who shows up. Waller and Maruma have be consistent of late and have truly bailed their teams when it really counted.

Our domestic scene is littered with the Mayavos, the Handirisis and the Saurambas, who despite holding a specialist role, can't cement their place in the XI, but continue to get picked regardless (I used to be a fan of Sauramba and expected bigger things from him!) Play ANYONE ELSE! They can't do much worse. At least this switch has to happen after a couple of seasons of complete failure if not earlier...

Waller has been in good form lately.. I hope for once this can be replicated on a national level. Mire looks to have picked up some form too. He looks like a player who can play a decent knock every 3/4 games

Another 100 for Mire, can't remember last time we actually had openers who were scoring 100's .....

Malcolm gets a List A ton, also making more headaches for selectors ......

We might actually find our batting lineup for the first ODI v Scotland without young stars Burl & Musakanda .....

Well done mire. We need to be brave and go with a Warner type batsman at the top of the order. Too often we have gone with sluggish starts. With mire he won't die wondering

Great effort from Mire and Waller. Mire perhaps justifying the selectors persistence with him at the top and good ton against some of the best domestic bowlers. Waller has been in great form all season hope he can replicate the good form on tour.

Competition is good. Burl and Musakanda will have to fight for their places as it stands.. we can't select them based on the academy tour because some of their opponents are relatively weak. Overall this is good for the game. Players fight harder for something they had to take from someone else rather than something that was handed to them on a silver platter like when all the white players walked away In 2004. It created a generation of mentally weak players. We won't have a situation where a player can fail three times in a row in a series and not look over their shoulder.

Musakanda and Burl should be selected. They deserve more chances like the selectors gave it to useless Chari & Chibhabha
Players like Chibhabha and Masakadza should be benched, they are smashing weak opponents like Canada & Namibia, and everytime they fails when they represent nation.

Chibhabha played more then 100 odis without a ton :D his name might be in a record books, only opener in the history to have such record.
Robo to rule

Yes, competition is good, but this argument has a flaw. Burl and Musakanda were already part of national setup and went with ZCRSA due to their selection, and hence missed the domestic season. Now that cannot put them at a disadvantage just because they faced lesser teams. If they were not selected for the academy, they would have played every game for Eagles & Rhinos and could have shown their worth.

At least for now, one of them must surely make the playing XI as Raza is in woeful batting form. May be soon, these two could be competing among themselves for the same batting slot...

Mire, Chibhabha, Masakadza / Musakanda, Ervine, Williams, Moor, Waller / Burl could be the top 7. Surely no place for Raza on merit and current form as of now. Depends on how Mire goes.
