Should Zimbabwe tour Bangladesh if Asked?
Re: Should Zimbabwe tour Bangladesh if Asked?
Genuine question. What does Zimbabwe stand to gain right now by touring Bangladesh?
1.Game time for seniors who will get pummeled
2.Donate easy points to Bangladesh who then have an excuse not to tour Zimbabwe
3.Zero young player development since they're poorly used/deployed
In a nutshell - nothing. Zero progression based on hopeless optimism!
Zimbabwe have plenty to gain by hosting Bangladesh for a long tour (3 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20s). They stand a very good chance to gain points in every format.
Herath didn't play ODIs, and Mire didn't exactly face Mustafizur, Taskin and Sakib within the first 15 overs either, but brown versions of Mpofu, Tiripano and Kamungozi in Sri Lanka.
There's a time when Sri Lanka and West Indies both strategically refused to tour for ranking reasons - whether the worked or not, so nothing sinister or embarassing about that.
When you play the man instead of the ball you lose a valuable opportunity to debate valid points objectively. That's not the purpose of a forum.
Beside what was th epurpose of the OP's question? Don't these answers address his questions?

The best way to improve is to continue playing quality sides. I remember when Australia had that great side in the early 2000's when a side would tour Australia they'd always get hammered early in the tour but slowly get better towards the end after playing against such quality opposition. Their next tour would usually be a successful one as the team would be in great condition after playing against such a good side ......
Plus ranking points are pointless now, we're not making top 8 ......

For a comment that's a big blunder.
50 over and 20 over formats have separate rankings, not just Tests.
When you consider a weakened Sri Lanka and West Indies side, plus home adavantage against Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Ireland (as well as against Scotland, Netherlands and UAE), then you can put yourself in a position where you don't have to qualify for World Cups and be eliminated before the main tournament even begins!
Points are everything otherwise what's the point?

YES. Of course we should tour Bangladesh. After that incredible Test match against Sri Lanka who wouldn't want to watch more Test cricket?
When they are on-song, Zimbabwe play an exciting brand of cricket. It came at a pretty important time, in the scheme of things.

We dont have enough points to auto qualify so hiding from fixtures to protect our points is pointless ....pariah wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2017 11:54 amFor a comment that's a big blunder.

And we won't secure enough points beating the UAE or Scotland either .....

We should tour Bangladesh and beat them! Not run and hide and play the likes of Burkina Faso like pariah suggests.

Zimbabwe Should'nt Tour Bangladesh, but its Bangladesh that should tour Zimbabwe. After 2012, Bangladesh haven't tour Zimbabwe for a full series. Zimbabwe was in Bangladesh in 2014 for 3 tests, 5 odis and a T20. In 2016, BCB neglected to tour Zimbabwe and in return they asked Zimbabwe to play 3 odis, 4 t20s in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh have always used Zimbabwe according to their needs, its time for ZC either to ask them to tour Zimbabwe for that 2 years pending full series or invite Scotland, Netherland for an home series, as World Cup Qualifiers are near, playing against these team matters for Zimbabwe.
With Irish& Afghans getting test status, ZC should think of starting a Boxing Day Test, first time in Zimbabwe.

You're right, Zimbabwe are playing way too many Test matches as it is. 3 scheduled for this year is more than what Ireland and Afghanistan have combined. BCB should look to hosting India where even a rained-out draw will net us a few points. The Robot wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 2:53 amZimbabwe Should'nt Tour Bangladesh, but its Bangladesh that should tour Zimbabwe. Bangladesh Chances of hosting Australia are certainly over now. Aussies are now saying India tour and even Ashes are going to be cancelled. With Bangladesh touring South Africain october, BCB might thinking of touring ZC to get accustomed with the condition.
