WI U19 vs Zim U19 Series: Squad and Fixtures

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

Mangongo thrilled: http://www.wisdenindia.com/cricket-pres ... nge/261855
The first match will be played at Harare Sports Club this Sunday, the 23rd of July.

Peterhouse School in Marondera will host the second youth ODI on Wednesday, the 26th of July, before the two sides return to Harare Sports Club for the third and final match next Saturday, the 29th of July.
ZIMBABWE UNDER-19 SQUAD 2017

1. Liam Roche (captain)
2. Milton Shumba (vice-captain)
3. Gregory Dollar
4. Frank Mazviita
5. Jayden Schadendorf
6. Tanunurwa Makoni
7. Wesley Madhevere
8. Marshal Takodzwa
9. Manson Chikowero
10. Dion Myers
11. Dion Mazhawidza
12. Alvin Chiradza
13. Taun Harrison
14. Tinotenda Jakachira
15. Struan Moore-Gordon
16. Kieran Robinson
17. Alistair Frost
Connolly and Oldrieve missing. But Taun Harrsion is back from SA. Myers would be exciting I hope, and a new name in Moore-Gordon. Gregory Dollar is one guy who has really done nothing in all these matches we have played over the last one year, but surely the coaching staff sees something in him...

Anyone know about Struan Moore-Gordon? Is he a relative (son?, nephew?) of Bruce Moore-Gordon. I was at school with him when he was picked as a 17-year-old for the President's XI to face the visiting Sri-Lankans. He then went on to play for the CFX academy.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

The last time we beat the West Indies at U19 level: in 1998!

Scorecard: http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8368 ... -Cup-1998/

Nkala and Vermeulen starring there.

Obviously we came close in the last world cup only to be denied by an incorrect Mankad dismissal. So, the last 4 meetings have been losses. 3 of them heavy.

What do we expect in this series? Would be great if we could sneak a win...

Want to see how good is the wonder boy Kisten Kallicharan, who smashed 400 in 35 overs in Under 15 school tournament

I'm still struggling to follow the live scores in the new cricinfo layout. All a bit confusing.

I see they've pushed Schadendorf down the order (hhm will say: "I told you so"), but the new opening combo only lasted 5 balls between them.

Any comments from the guys on the ground on the new or almost new kids, Jakachira (3 wickets) and Mwaita (2 wickets)?

Clearly Murray is at a different level. Also, clearly they are playing different people from the officially announced squad of 17. Is there a chance to entice Murray into a contract? Surely a more worthwhile investment than bringing back Sean Ervine.

Would have been nice to have Mazhawidza and Connolly walk in at this stage. We would have still had a chance...
