In-form Waller roped in by Rajshahi

Zimbabwean all-rounder Malcolm Waller has been roped in by Rajshahi Kings for Bangladesh Premier League 2017 season which starts this November. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ জিম্বাবুয়ান অলরাউন্ডারকে দলে নিল রাজশাহী]

The Kings confirmed the signing with the 32-year-old on Facebook. Waller is the fifth overseas signing for the franchise.

They wrote, “The veteran T20 specialist from Zimbabwe, Malcolm Waller joins the ranks of Rajshahi Kings!

“Malcolm Waller is a middle order heavy hitting batsman with a strike rate of 136 and an average of 27. He is also a right arm off break bowler with great economy and strike rate. Picked up 4 wickets at the recently finished ODI series against Sri Lanka.”

This will be Waller’s second BPL season. He played for Dhaka Dynamites in 2015 edition. He has proved himself as a pinch-hitter and a handy off-spinner in recent times.

Waller has played 12* Tests, 70 ODIs and 28 T20Is for Zimbabwe. In the ongoing Colombo (RPS) Test against Sri Lanka, he scored 39-ball 36 and 98-ball 68. He showed good performances in the ODI series with both bat and ball.

Waller has played 81 Twenty20 matches in his career and scored 1492 runs in 73 innings at 136.13 strike rate including four fifties. With his off-break, he took 12 wickets in 17 innings at an economy rate of 7.20.

Previously, Rajshahi retained captain Darren Sammy, Samit Patel and James Franklin. West Indian batsman Lendl Simmons was another new signing for the last year’s runners-up.

Well done. He deserves it.

Hopefully bat anywhere between 3-5, and stay away from bowling.

The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

This BPL is certainly drawing worldclass cricketers, first Waller and now Cremer.

That's good news.. surely Hami Mire and Raza have to be in the mix as well. What happened to the Afghanistan t20 league? Is it still on?
