COUNTY CRICKET

Kepler’s son Riki better than a hardly used BRM.

KJ ok again. However, an extension is a problem considering Anderson will probably retire soon after getting 500 Test wickets, plus McLaren is doing great as another import.

Sean Ervine did contribute to a fair extent in County cricket, but for a side that brought in so many imports at quite a hefty cost in order to win Div 1, he simply didn't do enough with bat and nothing at all with the ball.
NATWEST T20 BLAST

Jarvis unused

Taylor used and relatively effective. However, with ECB looking to make their T20 comp strong and attractive, he’s not good enough to retain in that format. Riki a thorn in his flesh once more.

What was once Sean’s strongest suite has become his weakest. Quite simply woeful in this format. Again not good enough to be retained in that format with so much quality around to sign up for this tournament. Didn’t bowl.
ROYAL LONDON ONE DAY CUP

Taylor was brilliant, but others eclipsed him.

As with the T20 Blast, Sean Ervine flopped badly in this format too. He barely bowled, which is telling.

Unusually Kyle Jarvis was used in this format for a change. His form was encouraging enough to suggest he might be trusted more next season.
One would think Sean Ervine is actually the easiest to get but Tristan in his responses said he's the least likely of the 3. I'd say Jarvis made an improvement by adding an extra format, so could be using this to get a new contract from Lancashire. In ZIM, I honestly don't see him surviving in ODI&T20 cricket, his stats will only get worse in my view - no matter the opposition - PNG/HK. Taylor on the other hand never imagined he would be playing so much 2nd XI FC cricket in England, and I think that must have depressed him somehow. If I was in his position, considering I've done relatively ok in List A and T20 cricket over there, I'd look for a smaller County side where I'll be good enough for their 4-day side as well. Not forget his away form, it's too big a risk for him to go to ZIM and flop against the likes of AFG, IRE and SCO whom ZIM will be playing the most cricket against. I wouldn't be surprised if none of them do go back to Zimbabwe.
NB: Did Zimbabwe miss the trick by not trying to rope Riki Wessels in? He's a proper keeper, and a great batsman.
