1 H Masakadza
2 Chibhabha
3 C Ervine
4 Taylor
5 Williams
6 Raza
7 Chakabva (wk)
8 M Waller
9 Cremer (c)
10 Jarvis
11 Mpofu
I don't understand the fascination with Chibhabha..
Is Chibhabha better than Mire as an opener...
The guy barely bowls & if he does bowl no wickets...

watermelon here,

Chisoro should not be selected for test cricket, however I know the reason he is being considered. As part of the Cremer/Streak axis, they feel that selecting an ineffective Chisoro will make Cremer look good, even though he isn't. If Kamungozi, M'Shangwe, even Maruma were bowling in the test, Cremer would be shown to not even be a top 5 test spinner for Zimbabwe.

Enough wisdom for now.

I agree.

Not just Cremer, they've been deliberately ignoring players with world class stats in multiple formats (Jongwe, Wellington and Chisoro) to create favourable conditions for a Taylor-Jarvis return to appear absolutely necessary even though Jarvis probably would struggle to make both a ZIM and ZIM A side in ODIs & T20s.

It backfired badly! ZIM is now a guaranteed a 500+ run jackpot and belongs to the Intercontinental Cup now, ranked below Afghanistan in ODIs while incapable of beating Ireland in Tournaments, plus behind Scotland in T20s(thanks to ditching Elton, Vusi, Panyangara and Chisoro).

How on earth will a Brendan Taylor century on the 4th day at Queens against Ireland compare to a Temba Bavuma century at Lords in the 5th day??? Well, it won't because finally Cricinfo won't have to say "against Test sides other than Zimbabwe and Bangladesh" anymore in their stats articles. They'll just say "Test sides"!

Don't like this 8 and 3 lineup one bit . This is how I would pick The eleven . 1. Hamilton 2 . Raza 3 . Ervine 4 . Taylor 5 . Williams 6 . Chakabva 7. Waller 8 . Mire 9 . Cremer 10. Jarvis 11 . Mpofu . Would love another pace bowler but selectors disagree. Raza needs to open because chibabha has had that many chances and proven he's not international standard , yes he is good against the quic ks but I just feel someone like mire down the order and only down the order could slap some tired bowlers around the park as well as Waller . In this team you have plenty of handy bowlers who could rotate and give the main 3 a spell . Still don't rate the chances of taking 20 wickets but who knows its West Indies and they can be putrid on any given day.
That's a good point. I never used to think this about Chibhabha, but of late it seems whenever the spinners come on it's only a matter of time before he's clean bowled or lbw'd.

I wouldn't be disappointed to see Raza opening. If we open up that extra spot though, I'd probably be inclined to play both Chakabva/Moor instead of Chakabva/Mire because if we are purely talking about batting then Moor's Test record says he shouldn't be dropped.
Was playing some ricky Pontings cricket on the playstation 2 with a mate last night and zimbabwe had Friday kasteni in the squad , we are desperate for a solid opener ? Only kidding but seriously a solid opening bat is what we need more than anything , I have zero faith in this squad in terms of opening for us . Middle order looks the most solid since I can remember and cremer at 9 is very hand but can't stop thinking we will be 2 for 10 or around that every innings.hope I'm proven wrong but I think most people will agree with me.
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

I can't see Waller missing out. He just scored a ton.

Looks like they really are going to play Mire. I have my doubts but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Masakadza
Mire
Ervine
Taylor
Williams
Raza
Waller
Chakabva
Cremer
Jarvis
Mpofu
Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, PJ Moor and Sikandar Raza have all recently scored Test centuries
When was the last time Masakadza scored a Test century? PJ Moor?
This would be a much better XI than some that one could come up with from the squad of 16. And yeah, booboo on Moor's test century.

Streak and Cremer have paid the journalists to talk up guys who are failing continuously. Otherwise they can't continue to pick them in the XI. They will be out of job once the fans figure this out. Just so that the readers don't suspect the Moor century incorrectness, a bigger incorrectness in Hamilton's century is reported first to draw attention towards that and heap misery on the veteran, while no scrutiny happens with Moor's stats.

Just 3 specialist bowlers against number 8th ranked team. If Zimbabwe can't play 4 specialist bowlers and , they also can't think of winning against Irish or Afghans. Raza, Waller & Williams are part time spinners.
