PJ Moor vs Sean Williams for Boxing Day
If it comes down to these two for a spot in the middle order - which I think is a likely scenario if we play 4 specialist bowlers as Waller will be dropped - who would you pick?
I think you've got to go for Moor, he hasn't done a thing wrong at Test level.

Why selection trauma both on Williams & Moor ?
Why not Chakabva & Mire ? One 70+ score and rubbish keeping skills will save him

They may well not be competing for the same spot, in fairness.

Just for arguments sake let’s say they are competing for the last spot
For me a case of Moor taking his opportunity whilst Williams was sick. I wouldn’t have dropped Williams but since Moor took his chance I think he deserves another go.

I agree with jaybro if you fall ill or injure yourself and the replacement does such a good job he deserves to stay , he must stay. PJ has done very well at test level and needs to be backed. I’m a massive fan of Williams but he did struggle that first test and had done previously in most formats. He’s definitely still got a role to play for zim in all 3 formats but currently there’s no room for him in my opinion.

Moor for me, no doubt. Sean Williams is yet to play an innings that matters for the team in his test career, while Moor has already played about 3 of them in his young career. But I don't expect the team management to take such a sensible decision and they would go with Williams. We might need Williams the bowler, but the batsman is missing for long in the longest format.

It’ll be williams as he is a valuable bowling all rounder.

Sean Williams innings of 119 against New Zealand was'nt anything that helped the team, when all quota players collapsed under the Kiwi PacersCrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 11:38 pmMoor for me, no doubt. Moor definitely should play, the real question is whether he should keep wicket to make room for Williams, or should he play as a batsman alone and therefore let Regis keep. At the moment I am leaning towards the latter.

There is no way Regis is missing out after that match saving effort. Plus his keeping was much improved, especially in the first test. And he is in form domestically too. Moor can only realistically come in for Williams, or has to open (and he might do so, being the team man he is) if Williams has to be fitted into this line up at 5:
Hamilton
?
Taylor
Ervine
Moor
Raza
Regis
Cremer
Shingi / Mpofu / Tiripano
Jarvis
Chatara
By the way, that footwork-less upper middle order in combination with the pink ball, day-night aspect, and the SA attack firing on all cylinders to prepare themselves for the Indian series sends shivers down my spine. Hope it does not get ugly.
The only hope is that the SA team needs a proper workout in both the departments so they prepare a QSC / Nagpur / Galle type track to test / prepare themselves.
Having said that, Hamilton has gone on record saying that they would relish this challenge and have it in them to be very competitive against SA on this historic occasion, in his interview with Dean du Plessis.
