How other sides are shaping up before the World Cup Qualifiers 2018

Post by Black Mamba »

Full Members & Associate nations have began to make their squad strong enough for the upcomming 10 teams World Cup Qualifiers 2018 to be held in Zimbabwe

Windies :

Chris Gayle & Samuels already made come backs in odis against England after the board have come partial settlement with the seniors. Now they hope return of Dwayne Bravo, Pollard, Darren Bravo & Sunil Narine in upcomming tour of New Zeland for the odis, the tour that will mark preparation for Windies for the qualifiers.

Netherlands :

Boosted by the return of star allrounder Ryan ten Doeschate
Next target will definately be Alexei Kervezee from Worcestershire and Tom Cooper, that makes their middle order strong with an explosive openning duo of Stephan Myburg & Wesley Barresi and also a lower order that involve experience Van der Merwe & Shane Snater

Ireland :

The team which has settled and strong batting line up but with weak bowling. Irish management have managed to bring back tall impressive fast bowler Boyd Rankin from England folds, will definately make an impact. Among the fringe players, they have got an indian origin lower order hard hitting allrounder Shimi Singh and with Jacob Mulder & Peter Chase, Ireland looks an impact side.

Scotland :

Return of star batsman and once ICC Associate player of the year Preston Mommsen and getting Davey & Evans back after they had worries representing county and Koplak deal will certainly add values to the team and they can surprise the best sides in their day.

Zimbabwe :

Much waited return of Taylor and Jarvis already happened, now they needs to get settled at the international arena. Zimbabwe had done well in the shorter formats and at home they are definately going to be strong. Come back of Brian Vitoti could add variety to the attack

Afghanistan :

The team which has high expectation for the qualification. Team is packed with talents and nearly every individual players are capable of hitting the bowl hard. Bowling has also too much variety, experience and magic. Problem for Afghanistan will definately be the combination and pressure of doing well, as this team has got massive achievement within small time.

Return of Mohammad Shehzad, will boost this side as he is capable of taking the game away within few small time with an aggressive instinct. Some highly skilled youths like Mujib are also expected to make into the side after Afghsnistan Under 19 surprised the world, with their maiden Youth Asia Cup Trophy 2017 that included youths of top asian giants in cricket

Papua New Guinea :

Unpredictable Side, some top skills are there in form of Assad Vala, Vani Morea and bowlers in form of Chad Soper, Mahuru Dai, recently struggled against Scotland in UAE but has the ability to beat top teams.

Hong Kong :

Another asian side with lots of promise. Popular domestic Tournaments like Hong Kong Sixes and Hong Kong T20 Blitz has improved their game. Jamie Atkinson, Babar Hayat,
Tanwir Afzal are some notable names, all that they need is return of star allrounder Irfan Ahmed, they have finished among top 4 in the ICC World Cricket League 205-17 and are expected to do well.

Well then, it's a good thing Zim made this investment, and pays an arm and a leg for it's maintenance, unlike these other dumb and desperate contestants.

got a feeling the rain is going to knock one of the big teams out..it was raining heavily this year in March and our ground drainage systems are not the best.

Also my suspicion is that there is going to be one do or die semi final and then one weaker semi final if it's held in a group and knockout format. this is why I would prefer a league format with the top 2 teams qualifying.you can't complain after that.

really excited about this.. you basically have 10 teams who struggle with consistency. ANYTHING is possible as far as I'm concerned. wouldn't be surprised to see Afghanistan knocking over the West Indies and then going on to lose to the Dutch. Zim usually doesn't do well in pressure situations but a lot is on the line. the guys might just turn up

Van der Merwe was a very dangerous player on his day for South Africa , very very good player for the dutch to get. They seem to have a very promising squad !
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

Fearless, daring and super confident.

Your Afridi, Warne, Zhuwao type of characters.

Netherlands didn't even have to break the bank for his services. :(

Van der Merwe only went to the Dutch because his South African first class career had stalled somewhat. It is unfortunate that talented domestic veterans are getting squeezed out of the system partially due to transformation quotas, but the Netherlands are grateful to have his services.

Every aspect. As dumb as KP's argument years ago too.

In any case, what serious cricketer leaves the best Franchise in SA to go join Netherlands??? :?

Easily the best and toughest cricket league in world cricket to play for a mere Associate?

RvdM must just admit he got a decent package from Somerset and thought why not throw in Netherlands for a feel of International cricket from time to time since my Dutch roots make me automatically eligible after all the years I haven't played for the Proteas.
