Umpire Tiffin? I thought the umpires were Ming and totoro with the 3rd umpire duties handled by Detective RDS? anusha gamage was the match referee last I checked. ZIMDOGGY meeting him/her later in the day would indeed be interesting...

News trickling in from HSC: (in absence of ball-by-ball coverage - the scorer+commentator jimmylesaint is rumored to have fled the scene after the first over as BRMT and maehara could not pay him on time)

Overs 25:
ZCF A - 74/3

gargamel - 48*
jontym87 - 2*

Flakeman survived the no-ball wicket off sloandog but did not last long, falling soon after to the accurate Train Driver for 8, skying a catch to bayhaus at mid on.

Black Mamba came out, lasted two balls and fell LBW in the same over to Train Driver. As plum as they come, but he went for the review despite gargamel discouraging it, and ZCF-A lost a review in the process as well.

With 10 minutes to go before lunch, Googly comes on. Spin for the first time in the match...

Welcome back to our coverage of the only test here at the Harare Sports Club. After a pacey but wayward spell by Sloandog, Traindriver and Jaybro have pulled this back for the ZCF XI at a time when wickets were needed.

The players are back on the field and, appropriately, Jaybro has the ball in hand waiting patiently at his mark.
Skipper Jemisi has started out aggressively here, brandishing three slips and two gully's to begin proceedings. He's finally got rid of that third man and placed him at extra cover, with a cover point to keep him company.

Interesting that the skipper has also done away with his mid off. A bold move considering Jaybro is only around the 80-83mph mark, but also tempting for the batter to have a drive (bringing his corden into play). A game of cat and mouse here to begin with by the looks of things, with googly lurking at deep backward square leg to remind the batters there could be some short stuff coming their way.
Crimson Avenger is close at wide mid on to prevent any quick singles.

Here we go then, Jaybro hears the call 'lets play',' and begins his run to the crease..

Jaybro to Gargamel, on a good length outside off stump and nipping away to go through nicely to ZIMDOGGY, 127Kph.

Jaybro to Gargamel, again on a good length outside off stump, again nipping away and once more the batter carefully leaves it alone, 127Kph.

Jaybro to Gargamel, fuller this time and on off stump but solidly behind it. The batter adjusted well to the inswinger and nods in appreciation having seen the wry smirk from the bowler, good cricket all round.

Jaybro to Gargamel, full outside off stump, too wide perhaps, and the ball carries through to the keeper who takes the ball by his ankles, 131Kph.

Grant Flower on commentary: ''You can see what the skipper is trying to do here, and I love it. He has his most accurate bowler on who he can rely on to produce a nagging line and length, and with a bit of away swing and nip off the pitch he has a lot to work with. I've been very impressed by Jaybro's ability to swing the ball both ways, without an apparent change in action. Could probably drive that leg through more as his action is very strong and appears easy, perhaps something to work on but certainly one for the future''. High praise indeed!

Jaybro to Gargamel, Yorker! dug out JUST by Gargamel. That one had a bit more fiz at 138Kph, almost creeping through the rock solid defence of the batter. Perhaps he was listening to Mr Flower...

Jaybro to Gargamel, good length on off stump and the batter is equally up to the task, dead batting the delivery and immediately calling his partner through for a quick run! The bowler evidently isn't happy with Bayhaus at cover point, who should really have stopped the single.

All in all, a good accurate start! The pitch certainly has enough to keep the seamers interested. There's some real carry through to the keeper and appears to be appreciable nip off the pitch. Will it spin, though?

ZCF A XI 75/3 after 26 overs.

As expected, Googly has the ball In hand, discussing the options of his fielding positions with his skipper.

The safe hands of Hhm partners ZIMDOGGY behind the batter at first slip, whilst Bayhaus appears to be moving to a leg slip position. Skipper Jemisi is at a relatively straight mid wicket while BRMT, we think, is under the lid at shortleg. Jaybro is at a very wide short fine leg with sloandog at deep square leg. Googly has his mid on back but his mid off up, with a cover point in place.

So it looks like the off spinner is going to be bowling on middle and leg, as there was some appreciable turn just before lunch.

'Tino Mawoyo: 'Liking the aggressive approach with the leg slip but I would get into my rhythm first and foremost before posting such a tricky fielf. He's going to have to be meticulous with his lines and lengths here, but if anybody can do it, googly can''

All set for the second over after lunch, here we go..

Googly to Gargamel, flighted above eye level, dipping on and around middle stump but smothered by the batter, the ball trickling between short leg and midwicket. Good start!

Googly to Gargamel, again flighted on middle stump but confidently punched down the ground to deep mid on to bring up a well made 50! Has shown a lot of class in this innings, and the crowd stand to appreciate a very well crafted knock. Time to kick on, though.

Googly to Johnty, shorter this time and flatter, but solidly behind the ball, creeping onto his back foot to negate the spin, 90Kph.

Googly to Johnty, flighted outside off stump but fizzes through the gap as the batter attempts an expansive drive through a vacant cover area! How that missed the stumps I don't know! ZIMDOGGY fumbles the ball, indicating he himself was shocked by the extravagant turn. That must have missed the top of middle stump by a whisker!

Googly at the foot of his mark, indicating to cover point to move slightly squarer for Johnty, opening up cover even more. Aggressive stuff this from ZCF, they want wickets!

Googly to Johnty, on off stump and again turning into the pads of the batter. Half an appeal but was well outside the line, and with the amount of turn on show was never really an opportunity on an lbw. Googly has both hands on his knees, looking up at the batter with a wry smile. He knows he's in the game here!

Googly to Johnty, flighted again on middle stump but powerfully swept to deep square leg! Wait, there's a misfield from Sloandog, allowing the batter to sneak in an extra run! Googly not impressed! But a good start none the less! 2 runs.

Meanwhile the ZCF fans are discussing the match with heated debates over at the zcfcricketforums.com. Fans of ZCF cricket teams mostly include current and former Zimbabwe cricketers themselves!

Lol. There is a new patron if you didn't know Pro, not accessible to you anymore...

Yes, there is a TapsC or a Zero76, but they are very much inexperienced and have a long way to go. Nothing close to a few years ago when a Jaybro or a bayhaus burst onto the scene with stellar performances from the word go. Talent is running dry. This match is a waste of time. ZCF should just close down.

Back to the innings.
Jaybro to Johnty, running in hard it seems! Short ball delivered but easily leg go by the batter, 130Kph. Perhaps Sloandog would be a more suitable option for that kind of length, thoughts anybody?

Jaybro to Johnty, again short but this time pulled well infront of square for a boundary FOUR! Wow! That scorched the outfield nearly, whistling to the boundary! Somebody check that ball for damage, he certainly knocked the air out of that one!

Abbas: ''Wish he'd stop persisting with this short stuff! He has such a fluid action and is tailor made for pitching it up, why's he bowling half way down! This Johnty kid is waiting on the backfoot anyway so he's ready and game for the challenge. 130Kph bouncers won't trouble this lad''. Word.

Jaybro to Johnty, fuller this time and edged to first slip but, wait! NOOO it's DOWN! A full away swinging delivery, with the batter stuck on the crease possible expecting another short ball, hanging his bat out asking for a nick! He gets one and it flies to Hhm at first slip (the ever dependable HHm) who lets one go! How big a miss will that be ?! The crowd have erupted.

Jaybro, an angry looking Jaybro! to Johnty, full on middle stump but he's equally up to the challenge, crunching the bowler down the ground for a glorious FOUR! The bowler shouts out in anger and glares at first slip, who just crosses his arms and looks through his sunglasses towards the ground, who have well and truly got behind the batter! Beautiful stroke!

Jaybro to Johnty, good length on off stump but left well alone. The bowler has a word, and walks back to his mark, 133Kph.

Jaybro to Johnty, another good length ball but this time nipping into the batter, who is cut in half! Wow, that really came from nowhere. The ball spat off a good length and nearly sliced through the batter and his stumps, but once again, he survives! No run.
