Your XI for Boxing Day

Post by jaybro »

From the players in the squad ( don’t want to see Panyangara or Vusi’s names )

Chamu
Hami
Ervine
BT
Moor
Raza
Mire
Regis wk
Cremer
KJ
Chatara

I was torn whether to pick Burl in the middle and leave Mire opening but I’m really worried about our batting so we need the extra bowling from Chamu which allows us to play an extra batsman.

Do I think this side can win this test ? No. But I don’t think playing 3 seamers and seven batsman will win it for us either.

Hamilton Masakadza
Ryan Burl
Craig Ervine
Brendan Taylor (wkb)
Sikandar Raza
Peter Moor ( wkb)
C Chibhabha
G Cremer
K Jarvis
T Chatara
B Muzarabani

Taylor to Keep in 1st Innings, Moor in 2nd Innings, Vice Versa.Burl has the experience of batting at 3, no problem asking him to open, one off test, poor loss or draw won't effect as Zimbabwe's test future is unpredictable with ICC giving no importance to Zimbabwe in test format, but playing aggressive cricket with some competition might bring some experience for future and also ICC will look Zimbabwe to provide more test matches. So, no question of playing for a draw or a negetive strategy of playing 8 batsman, 3 bowlers format.

Mpofu carrying the drinks unless it is green and then I'd swap him for Burl.

looking at what happened I would say we have to try and save this test. as much as I hate the 8-3 I think it's our only chance of getting a draw.

Mire
Chamu
Hami
BT
Ervine
Raza
Burl
Moor(wk)
Cremer
Jarvis
Muzarabani

Picked Blessing because an 8-3 will require the bowlers to bowl at least 20 overs each. I don't think Chatara is fit enough to do that right now.

Not sure what the status is with Chatara so Mpofu stays. Burl wins the battle between him and Moor so he takes Moor's spot. Chibhabha is an easy replacement for Mire.

It's too early to drop mire ..chibhaba needs to be proper all-rounder if he wants place in the side ..I don't think he is currently. This is the best side as per me
