Its been very cold in Dhaka this winter and lots of fog...hopefully the game starts on time, although no chance of rain.

Simple game plan for our opponents through the series. Open the bowling with spinners (at least one) and frustrate Mire and Hamilton with lack of opportunities to score. Get them to throw their wickets away and the rest will follow. A Raza or a Taylor might resist in a match or two, but you would have broken the one confidence booster Zim has found of late - strong authoritative opening stands.

Mashrafee has stated we'll be playing at least 3 specialist seamers and quite possibly 4. If we play 4, there may not be room for Miraz as a spinner. I think 4 seamers is overkill since we don't have the quality to play 4.

All the talk is that the pitch and conditions might actually suit the seamers which is a surprise in Bangladesh, maybe this is why Streak has opted against the 8-3 lineup which only really works in spinning conditions.
We might see 3 seamers plus Cremer as our attack

Streak would know these conditions fairly well having been there for 2 years.jaybro wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 3:36 amAll the talk is that the pitch and conditions might actually suit the seamers which is a surprise in Bangladesh, maybe this is why Streak has opted against the 8-3 lineup which only really works in spinning conditions.

Our approached changed as soon as Mash took the captaincy...we've gone in with at least 3 quicks for all home ODIs since 2015.
The conditions today may actually favor seam and swing bowling. Cold, overcast, hazy ass conditions to start with. Plus dew factor makes it hard to grip the ball if you're a spinner. Team winning toss will choose to bowl first in all 7 games.

I'm okay with this. Hard hitting Mire and solid Masakadza will probably prefer the ball coming onto the bat and sometimes when its moving around a bloke can just go nuts, few streaky fours and be away. Will be interesting when Lanka play aswell as their pace bowling has improved heaps with gamage/lakmal/pradeep etc.
Very keen to see how the boys go, if spin is useless then only cremer needed with a little of raz to break it up. Teams seem to love opening with raza for a few overs especially in t20. In shpageeza and bpl hes been opening.
I genuinely think this first game could decide who's in the final...

Very excited to see the colours back ! Tipping a win for the lads and Taylor and cremer to be the standouts !
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

Any thing could be the condition, its a sub continent pitch, there is 0% chance of lateral movements, bowl will swing hardly first 6 - 8 overs due to moisture. Slowers, Cutters, Outside Yorkers from the line of the batsman and skiddy spin will come into effect.

I would prefer Mavuta over Mpofu or Chisoro for his leg spin

ZIM batting first...
I wanted to see us bat first but we'll get to see how Mire and Hammy do here.
