[Match Threads]: 2018 Tri-Series Matches 3 & 6 | Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka

Post by Kriterion_BD »

We can have a single thread for both of the BD vs SL league games.

Mashrafee and the boys were at the ground for the ZIM/SL game. Hathu and Samarweera will be able to provide the scoop on most of the BD players. SL will be coming hard in what is essentially a must win game. The pitch is expected to be a flat one as the weather is more batting friendly than it wsa in the previous 2 games.

Hope the Tigers bat first and post a big total.

18 without loss from 5 overs.

Much slower start than what ZIM had gotten!

Bangladesh is an extremely Dhaka-centric city in general. Most Bangladeshis aren't actually from Dhaka, but everyone has family there and everyone moves there because thats where everything is.

In terms of cricket, there has been some talk of a need to decentralize, but it hasn't happened. The BPL finally held some matches in Sylhet this year and the 2nd T20 vs SL will be in Sylhet at the end of this tour. But 65% of BPL matches are still held there, and probably a similar number for the DPL. Interestingly, most of our first class matches are held in other venues.

There is another Dhaka venue that is rarely used, Fatullah. But probably the main reason for the reliance on the SBNS is that its facilities and infrastructure are world class. The drainage is top class. I think the venues in Chittagong, Khulna, and Sylhet are similarly world class, but I'm not totally sure.

The other factor is that Bangladesh only play 3 ODI series its probably not cost effective to have them in different venues as it is when India hosts a 7 match series in 7 different cities.

Well we will need a good total of at least 275 to win. SL can score big runs as they showed vs ZIM, they almost chased 290. We'd need 300 at least to feel fairly sure of getting the W.

SL's fielding is appaling.

We are also batting like shit...could easily be 4 or 5 down at this stage.

Shame we don't have any home Tests against SL coming up. I think we'd be a very good chance of whitewashing them.

Wow! just saw the score card. Sad to see SL like this. But Zim must capitalize. No let ups please guys.

As an aside, Tamim's contributions goes unnoticed again - this is Rahul Dravid / Hamilton territory. Agreed, this time probably Shakib did contribute very well and got a couple of important wickets as well, compared to the first match. MoM for him must be for these kind of performances. Clearly, in the last match, Tamim was the most deserving of MoM followed by Mustafiz.
