Exciting tri series as all matches are guaranteed to be live rubbers. Even if ZIM lost, they are still in with a good chance of making the finals!

The NRRs are ZIM -0.892 and SL -0.989...a difference of just 0.1 basically. Ie one-tenth of a run per over.

By my estimate, therefore, ZIM needs to ensure that they outperform SL by about 20 runs or the chasing equivalent (not sure how to calculate that).

Bangladesh are just so strong now ( feels weird saying that ) I honestly can't imagine us beating them over there in an ODI anytime soon

I wonder if Murray will debut ?

The funny thing is both teams retain the core squads from the 2007-2013 rivalries when ZIM were almost even at home and would always manage to snag one or two victories in Bangladesh as well.

Taylor-Hamilton-Ervine-Jarvis-Cremer (plus Williams) vs Tamim-Shakib-Mushfiq-Mashrafee-Mahmudullah

Both teams lost some stars Price, Razzak, Taibu and both lost some [mostly] useless players in Ashraful, Aftab, Elton, and Vusi.

If we are batting second, we'll definitely have more options up our sleeves - if we lose a couple of quick wickets, we can look to consolidate and ensure damage limitation instead of going for the win, so that we can hope for another SL meltdown in the last match.

Let's hope we win the toss and chase. We are anyway better off with chasing than setting a total to defend, so here's wishing...

Murray will only debut If BT is genuinely injured, which I doubt. That keeper sub is going to open a can of worms at some point because theoretically you could play a front line batsman posing as a keeper then sub him when you field.

BD are batting first. This is good news. We need all our bowlers to keep it tight today and make it a close contest.

Teams:

Zimbabwe (Playing XI): Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor(w), Sikandar Raza, Peter Moor, Malcolm Waller, Graeme Cremer(c), Kyle Jarvis, Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarabani

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Sunzamul Islam

So, we can't even do much with our XI. That;s how bad the bench we have brought is...

I remember in rugby there was a farcical period where you needed a doctor’s note for a substitution and the sub would run onto the field with a doctor’s slip to hand to the ref for the guy going off.

Who would you drop? Only Moor and Waller seem worthy of a drop and Waller can be destructive on his day plus kniws the conditions well owing to BPL and DPL experience. And Moor has potential. A fit Musakanda or Williams would even have to make something of a case to get in IMO.
