How you figure Scotland ahead?Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Mar 13, 2018 2:32 amScots actually have a minor NRR advantage over ZIM already. Negligible, but given they've played the same opposition, it means they *can* bat at least as well as the Zimmers.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Mon Mar 12, 2018 11:42 pmThe mathematics of it.
All games assume we beat UAE.
All games assume Ireland dispatch Scotland and afg as they are expected too.
If we beat WI. Largely irrelevant (unless Scotland win too.
WI win, ireland loss= Zim 7 points. Ireland 8 points.
WI loss, Ireland win=Zim 7 points. Ireland 6 points
As you can see, the windies game is irrelevant win lose or draw. Scotland are unlikely to exceed our NRR on equal points too.
if we beat Ireland, the rest takes care of itself, including if other games have upsets.
Scots are a very decent batting side. ZIM's bowlers have actually done very well keeping their composure in pressure situations. Both Afghanistan and Scotland were in commanding positions chasing against ZIM and both failed to pull off wins which would have all but eliminated ZIM from contention.
Stephen King couldn't write a better thriller.
Scots NRR is 0.8 and Zims is 1.035
