Need to finish among top 9 in ICC T20 Rankings by 31st December, 2018 else need to play T20 Qualifiers

Post by Black Mamba »

The next global ICC event is the World T20 to be played in Australia in 2020 with 16 teams. As per direct qualification, teams finishing top 9 in ICC Rankings ( except the host nation who will qualify automatically) will directly qualify for the World T20.

Remaing 6 places will be decided by the 14 teams World T20 Qualifiers, that includes 6 teams finishing 11th to 16th position in ICC Rankings after 31st December, 2018 ( who finished among top 6 in World T20 qualifiers in 2015, will be relieved from the qualifiers if they finish among top 10 by 31st december, 2018 and will be replaced by any team that failed to be among top 10 rankings ) top 7 teams from regional qualification and the host nation of the World T20 Qualifiers.

As per FTP, Zimbabwe is playing just 2 T20s till October, 2018.
Tri Nation T20 series between Pakistan, Australia and Zimbabwe now has been divided separately with no T20s against Australia and one against Pakistan and another will be played against South Africa.

Its seems, Zimbabwe are again going to repeat same mistake, what they did before the 50 overs qualifiers, played test cricket and also started four day domestic cricket, when playing 50 over cricket was much needed, after confidence booster with series win against Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe was out of confidence when they returned to 50 over cricket in Bangladesh Tri nation and tour of UAE against Afghanistan, when the qualifiers were scheduled just 2 to 3 weeks from this two series.

Its a good time to prepare for T20s and qualify directly, instead of playing test cricket

There's far too much noise going on with ZC for the aussies to tour, not to mention the fact we don't have a bloody coach, captain or any support staff.

There's so much noise going on internally now. The administration are showing how incompetent and inept they actually are, and that they have an agenda. Really is terrible. Must be so hard for the players to play under these guys, or even look them in the eye with any minute amount of respect after they know what they are like.

Why wouldnt they if they are supposed to? You can get sued if you break a bilateral agreement. Look at what happened when the West Indies didnt pitch up in India. Unless the Aussies are willing to pay us a couple of million dollars so that they dont come all because Heath Streak got fired.

What they will probably do is send a really weak team but that all depends on who takes over. We cant tell how the world will react until we see who the new coach or captain is. If BT takes over as captain for example is that really a bad decision? Thats where the key to all these complaints is.

They werent touring because of political instability not because of the player walkout in 2004 etc. They dont care as much as people think. If BT accepts the captaincy and they miraculously find an international standard coach then all the noise will go away as far as im concerned. These guys are kings of manipulation.

Why don't Scotland or Hong Kong or one of those smaller ODI nations host Zimbabwe? They are always desperate for game time. Is it a budget thing, cause they do a get a decent cheque from the ICC that they could use to host a series or two.

Netherlands ( 14) , Ireland (18) and Scotland (11) after failing in ICC 50 overs Qualifiers, begin their World T20 2020 plan with a tri nation T20 series, motive is sure to finish among top 9 to avoid qualifiers and qualify directly.

Two T20Is. What the hell. Even if we win both, we have about a 1% chance. And there's a chance of them not even being there. Raza captain for T20 makes the most sense. Hammy is on his last life and so is Ervine. I'm just frustrated with ZC. A T20 series surely would help even if against Pakistan or Australia. Hell, I'll have an Afghanistan series even!
