#ZCBOARD MUST GO
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
If we were demoted to associate level cricket will stop here overnight.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Bear in mind that pre test era we were amateurs and immediately thereafter only semi-professional. We had a genuine love for the game. Guys now won’t play unless someone gives them a new ball, a free lunch and transport money. And lock your kit bag up

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Which players would continue playing for fun at a competitive level if they will no longer get paid?
I suspect Moor has the means to do so? Who else?
Would would an associate-level Zimbabwe team look like in 2020?

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Club cricket relies on ZC funding. It will not quite grind to halt, but it will be infinitely worse than it is now, and it’s at rock bottom as we speak. Nobody would maintain the pitches.
Age group cricket would end, it’s pretty shit anyway.
It’s not worth thinking about.
There would be more board members than players
But we’d still get a bit of money and of course that’s worth stealing so the usual culprits would be sniffing around. There’s no turning it around from Associate back to member, take poison on that!

If you can’t make it work with 9m a year then 1m ain’t cutting it. It would be interesting to see whether Metbank then had any interest in their supposed outstanding loan. Moor will always play, he loves cricket, works hard and his family have a stake here. The other guys not so much. All promising kids will throw in the towel or leave.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
I'm not convinced we'll be getting even $1m. The ICC could say there will be $0 until an elected board is put in place.
So Hogg and Ellman-Brown have a year to steady the ship? That's a year that we potential have no money to play with. Maybe a sponsor or two come on board but that's not going to pay for much.
Is there any way this ends well now?

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Well the acid test is if ICC restrict our funding and/or downgrade us. Then there’s no incentive for these guys to take a shot at running the game. If I were them I’d walk away and leave the hyenas to fight over the scraps if they are guven anything less than what’s on the table now.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
This makes me think we would be better off being demoted. The funding from ICC would stop so the leeches who come for the money.
With no money from the ICC, it will go back to how it was in the day when we were farmers playing cricket. The guys who play will do so for the love of the game. It will probably mean building it all up again from scratch, but it might be better. Not really coherent with my thoughts at 3am though.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
No farmers and no future. There are 4 whites that play cricket- Moor, Burl, BT and Diplock and there’s no one else with the slightest interest.
There’s no starting again bud, this is it, D day next week.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
There will always be someone to play and form a team. New Zealand has a population less than ours and look at them. You do not need numbers. What you need are people who are passionate, will work hard and work for the benefit of the team.
How many people would pick NZ players in their current World XI? Yet, they are in the final. Granted they are talented, but they also work very hard and put in the effort. They graft, and they graft for each other, and their nation. Zim just needs a few people like that to take the reigns, and to keep those scum out of it.
