They didn’t just suddenly become internationals in the making because they went and played some club cricket in the UK. The oft used phrase is “unearthed a new talent,” it’s not how it works. After years of little or no cricket at a low level you don’t suddenly get your chance and become Jason Roy overnight. He’s having a good run against mediocre opposition, throw him in the deep end and he will sink to the bottom without a trace. We’ve done this all before and for the 15th year in a row they will find it doesn’t work. It’s vexing and perplexing to them that you have to invest more than one tour every few years into the making of a batsman, you need to practice most days at a high level in order to be successful on the big stage. Anyway let’s hear the calls for him to urgently be selected. We’ve got nobody in waiting thst has the remotest chance of sucess, end of story.

Deep in the heart of Mazarabani there lived a young goat herder, who by a strange and bizarre twist of fate was called Sachin Viv Ndlovu.
