Alistair Campbell High Performance Centre ( HPP )

Post by Black Mamba »

Zimbabwe's ex captain & legendary opening batsman Alistair Campbell launched an academy for the youth upcomming talents from Zimbabwe.

ACHPC plans to launch its inaugural 100 ball cricket concept in September 2018 which is in news now days, adopted from the recently released ECB model. The concept is centred around making the game shorter, more action packed and aid in growing numbers playing the game.

I see another grass roots type academy has sprung up.
There’s clearly anticipation of funding looming on the horizon
Cricket is all but dead in most of the schools that have existing facilities and kids that vaguely want to play yet there’s a need to go rummaging through the undergrowth to uncover some hidden gem in kamusha somewhere.
How? There are no pitches, no practice facilities or equipment, very limited interest, no coaches, no knowledge etc etc. They’re not even playing football properly and all thst takes is a $5 Chinese manufactured football. Please am I the only one that sees this for what it is-
opportunism and a monumental waste of time and money.
Why isn’t there a serious age group set up at Takashinga, where there are loads of high density kids that can recognize a cricket bat. Start there. Fix Churchill and a few other government schools. Improve the standard and volume of games played at the main schools.
When it’s broken at this level trying to fix it at the grass roots level is a complete waste of time. We need good kids and competitive schoolboy cricket being played right now and it’s not happening.
Take over churchill cricket and get whatever talented kids there on scholarship programs. This needs to be done properly and urgently. You can teach the staff there about ethics and fair play and fielding teams with kids that are within two years of the right age whilst you’re at it. It’s pointless allowing them to cheat from day 1.
We don’t need thousands of kids playing bush cricket. You might find a couple of decent ones for sure (no batsmen I guarantee!!) but if you focused on ten existing schools you might find 3 or 4 and might be lucky enough to get a couple of batters going. Of course a couple might be white because the black kids at those schools don’t seem too interested
We so need to move past that. We need good cricketers and ZC and these various academies can no longer afford to leave it up to white parents to provide them with a supply of cricketers that they can use and abuse. There are so few whites left with a passion for the game that they all now need to be treated equally. White parents are no longer sending their kids for extra coaching 3 times a week at $25 a pop. There aren’t many of those coaches left and nor are they sending them to school coaches for “extra” coaching to make sure they make the sides
they don’t give a shit anymore. The kids just play water polo and have a hit and giggle because it’s compulsory.
Please listen before it’s too late!!!
