Alistair Campbell - my old man always said Campbell was a really tough bloke, especially during the England series of 97'. That he stuck up for his players and had great man management skills when it came to getting the best out of them. Not sure why he didn't score more test centuries.

BT performed very well with the bat as captain, but his tactics in the field weren't the best.
I actually liked Cremer's captaincy as well, he wasn't afraid to try things, although they didn't always come off he had a crack.

Before my time and before the Test era, so the sample size as captain on the international stage is small, but Duncan Fletcher must have been a bloody good captain as well.
