Vigne Cup 2018/19

Post by Flakeman »

The cricket season kicks off this Sunday with the Vigne Cup commencing. Should be an interesting season as almost all franchise players play in it and opportunities aren’t limited to the privileged few, like in franchise.

Week 1 sees :

Royal vs Old Malvernians
Rainbow vs Takashinga 1
White Rhinos vs Uprising
Takashinga 2 vs Old Hararians

Will be interesting to see how the rest of the players stuck up. Hope we get some scorecard for these games. They are usually posted on crichq.

Deliberately timed for the onset of the rains so they don’t have to play many games. We’ve had 7 months of blue skies, first heavy rainfall and we have the first game.
If it isn’t deliberate (which it is) it’s monumentally stupid.

Only 2 games out of the 4 played today due to a lack of avaliable grounds 🙈

Other two games due to be played in the week.

When you don’t have your own club where you pay subs and take pride in your facilities and expect to just pitch up and play for free on a ground that some other mystery person has prepared for you that’s going to happen.
A bunch of people all wanting it laid on for free is more like a gang or political party stalwarts than a club.

Old Georgians were approached a couple of times by gangs wanting to hire their facilities but unwilling to play under the OG’s name, I’m really not sure how that works either. Everywhere is broken, there’s not much free shit left.
