Williams and Mavuta selected for SA T20

Post by TapsC »

Congrats to him. Picked up by the Tshwane Spartans for R350k. Picked up some form at a crucial time. The likes of BT must be kicking themselves. Its not over yet tho. Maybe Mavuta will get picked up. The South Africans seemed to like him a lot

Mavuta picked up as well. I thought this might happen. They really liked him down south. HUGE step forward in his career.

This is why international games matter folks. The other players only have themselves to blame for not getting picked. This is also why international cricket is lucrative. Blessing could have easily stolen the show on those pitches. County doesnt give you that kind of exposure if you are a kolpak

Surely one of the teams will go for Taylor. He got a contract for the Global T20 before it died... would be really disappointing to see him miss out. One meagre series can do a lot of damage I guess.

Raza is picked up as well. Will play for the same team as Williams. Nice bit of business there. 2 decent batsmen who can bowl a bit.

I thought Raza was playing in Nepal as well in December. I wonder how he is going to balance that. He is quickly becoming a t20 specialist. Wouldnt be surprised if he declines a national contract in the next 2 years. I think he is just waiting for a big league to pick him.

He has succesfully cracked the smaller t20 leagues which is still a big achievement for a ZC player. The board dont even realize how lucky we are to have him. Imagine him instead of Elton in the last series. At least now Elton backers like myself got to see that he will never make a successful comeback even in conditions that suit him

Based on what happened on tour I have to say Mpofu showed some tremendous bowling skills. He might have been in with a real chance of getting picked. I guess maybe age worked against him. Mavuta also showed that he can bat a bit unlike Mpofu. Its not a coincidence the Zimbabweans picked personally consider themselves to be all rounders

Ya I thought Mpofu was unlucky as well.

Yeah I thought BT would get picked up because he can keep too, but I guess the fact he didn’t impress on tour hurt his chances. If he scored well in one game I think he gets in.

Well done to the three guys who got in hopefully they all get an opportunity and do well.

When was the last time Zimbabwe have a youngster hit the scene with so much promise?

Burl, Tari & Blessing came with much hype but although the latter two had their moments they didn’t quite find their feet.
