[Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe 2nd ODI
Off to Chittagong for the 2nd ODI so hopefully a change of venue for Zimbabwe will do them some good, the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka doesn't seem to suit them at all, the Zahur Ahmad Chowdhury Stadium hasn't historically been a high scoring venue with only one side ever passing the 300 mark in an ODI, but reports via espncricinfo are that the deck is flat these days.
I have a feeling we might see the reunion of the 'bash brothers' upfront for Zimbabwe with Solomon Mire possibly returning to open with Cephas Zhuwao and Hamilton dropping to No.3, Craig Ervine might be the guy to miss out as he continues to look out of form. Interesting to see if Donald Tiripano keeps his spot after missing out with bat and ball in game one.
Hopefully the Zimbabwe spinners have learnt from their errors in game one and bowl slower, fuller and straighter like the Bangladeshi guys did, Kayes and Saifuddin pulled way too many short balls for boundaries against the slower men. I'm looking for BT and Raza to have big games for Zimbabwe, BT is well due for a score and it's rare to see Raza miss out with bat and ball often, especially coming off an impressive APL.

Got a feeling they might drop Ervine for Mire as you suggest Jaybro. That will either go really well or extremely badly. Really badly if the Fizz opens the bowling. Really well if he is rested.
I just wish they would take some plans from Streak and play an 8-3 with Mire and Hami bowling a few if Raza and Williams struggle.
I'm hoping for the best. Its been a while. Interesting to note that BT has been out to spin 5 times out of the last 8 matches

Bad move if they drop Ervine, especially for a guy like Mire. Ervine should perhaps be shifted down the order.

I actually kind of like Tiripano in the team at the moment. It's kind of like 8-3 without sacrificing a bowler because I think he's almost as good of a batsman as some of the other specialist bats in the squad (even if he failed in the first game).
I definitely want to see Williams at 4 though. I didn't see his innings last game but he is in-form it seems and he did hit a 50 off the South African bowling attack which included guys better than Fizz. Taylor might actually have more impact at 5 because he is a very adaptable batsman so I think it's worth a try (it's not like he's going to be stuck in the shed with the way things are going). That is if Mire comes in of course, otherwise I think he's fine at 3 with Ervine maybe sliding down to 6. He did play there in the 2015 WC so he has some experience I guess.

The problem with bringing in Mire to open with Zhuwao is that neither are likely to last more than 40-50 ball max ! And with our feeble middle order at present we keep getting bowled out cheaply.
But if Ervine is making any runs there’s no point really having him there, I still think he’s a good player but he needs runs soon.
I think the 8-3 without Waller is too big a risk bowling wise because we don’t have that 4th all rounder option. Hamilton hasn’t bowled for nearly 2 years in ODI’s and Mire seems to have given up bowling as well.

So much hope on two inconsistent bashers Mire & Zhuwao...jaybro wrote: ↑Tue Oct 23, 2018 11:02 pmOff to Chittagong for the 2nd ODI so hopefully a change of venue for Zimbabwe will do them some good, the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka doesn't seem to suit them at all, the Zahur Ahmad Chowdhury Stadium hasn't historically been a high scoring venue with only one side ever passing the 300 mark in an ODI, but reports via espncricinfo are that the deck is flat these days.

Looks Malcolm Waller is the only victim for Zimbabwe not qualifying in the 50 Over World Cup.
Players Performances hasn't came under scrutiny instead they fired those who doesn't perform in the field, as a result Zimbabwe today is in the verage of making record of 10 back to back odi loss.

I think with the new ball Rabada might be more difficult to face than Mustafizur, maybe Steyn too but I haven't seen him play for a while. I was a bit rash saying they are better than Fizz cause he is an amazing bowler, but if Williams does bat at 4 I just meant he wouldn't be out of his depth. Honestly, against Zimbabwe, Mustafizur looks a class above though so I was probably just being hopefulKriterion_BD wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 3:46 amWho does South Africa have thats better than Fizz?Nanctus wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 1:24 amI actually kind of like Tiripano in the team at the moment.
