I don’t agree with your thought process on that, Kriterion.
Why would we make a turner when the ZIM spinners outbowled ours in the first Test on moderately turning surface? If we had Shakib, sure. But with just 2 spinners it doesn't make sense.
When we had a real sporting track in Dhaka in 2014, the game was close. Typical subcontinent pitches in Khulna and Chittagong produced comfortable wins for BD.
This pitch is an exciting one. But looks like there is some turn available already.
Well a good win in that session. Pity we didn't hold that fourth. Need a couple in the afternoon at least.
I reckon we need 250 to be in a decent position, 300+ to feel safe. Then again, 3 of our top order combined for 9 runs and only one got out to a good ball, so perhaps anything under 350 will be easy for ZIM...
Enthralling 2nd session coming up, but I'm only going to be able to catch a few overs. Will have to refrain from cricinfo all day tomorrow till I can watch the rest of the day's play at my buddy's house tomorrow evening.
Should we have gone for Mpofu over Tiripano? You have to feel Mpofu would be hitting low 130s instead of low 120s.
Obviously Tiripano is much more useful with the bat though.
I am really perplexed by this fixation on Brian Chari. The boy has only two two innings to prove himself and half the time he is inactive becuase of as he doesn't play ODI cricket for the country. Now if you guys proffered those reasons for why you didn't want him in the side I would understand. But the reason you given; ie Craig Ervbine is better, Ryan Bulr is better are not valid. Craig Ervine hasn't done anything worthwhile for two years, and he plays far much more cricket. It took us a while before we finally surrendered to the fact that he cant play T20 cricket even when some of us pointed this out years back. He is hopeless against spin and equally suspect against pace so whats the point?
Ryan Burl looked technically good in SA but still didn't make that opportunity count. So he had his chance too, let Chari get his turn and stop hopping up and about.
