Serious questions need to be asked about this position as it does seem that Taylor thrives on kepping wicket and opening the batting so where does this leave Taibu????
I think Taylor is a very canny wicket keeper as he is a good sledger and can play mind games with the batsman and seems to over a lot more advice to the captain and bowler than Taibu does.
I still expect Taibu to come back into the side but this raises the other question of where he bats. It looks like the selecters are going to give Lamb a run at number 3 and Ervine settled in so well at 4 with Coventry and Chigumbura boosting a powerfull late middle order who can accelerate and clear the boundry as Coventry did yesterday.
To be honest i would not like to muck around with the top 4 at the moment as it looks decent so Taibu may find himself batting at 6 or 7 in the short term which may benifit the team as he and Chigumbura are lighting between the wickets and would be very usefull in the last 10 overs.

Taibu can step-up the run-rate at any position but he is best suited at no.3 as he can stabilise the innings as well.We do have another keeper in the squad-Charles Coventry, but both Taylor and Taibu are doing good job at present.

I don't have any statistics to back me up on this yet but Brendan Taylor generally seem to perform much better with the bat when he is keeping wicket.

Come to think of it! yeah he kept wicket when we beat Aus in the first T20. You might have a point thereperform much better with the bat when he is keeping wicket.

Re: Wicket Keeping Situation
I don't believe the conversation that's taking place here. So since Taylor appears to play well when he's keeping, something ought top be done for him? Pullleeeez!!! I'm ecstatic Taylor has got back to form (in fact he won me R600 the other day) but any attempt to add a sweetener at the expense of Taibu is quite misguided.
You do know this was a man christianed by Ian Healy as par to Adam Ghilchrist on wicketkeeping skills? Please guys lets not get carried away here

Re: Wicket Keeping Situation
On pure wicket-keeping skills, Chappy is ok, Taylor good and Tibblz the best.
No confusion in my mind whatsoever.Remember his record of not allowing a single bye in a score in excess of 500/700
against SL in test.

Re: Wicket Keeping Situation
I know Taibu can bowl medium pacers. So why not let Taylor keep and Taibu bowl 2-3 overs.I m also sure that he will prove to be a better fielder than taylor but since he is suffering a foot injury, its better he doesn't keep and field in positions where the ball will hardly come.
It is important to stand up for what is right.

Re: Wicket Keeping Situation
I would take Coventry out If Taibu were fit or Lamb and I Think Tibba take the gloves.
Re: Wicket Keeping Situation
I think in the end the best keeper should be behind the stumps - which is clearly Tatenda Taibu. However if Tatenda's form with the bat drops off or he gets injured at least we know we have capable backups in Taylor and Coventry.
Brendan Taylor's batting should be able to succeed regardless of if he is keeping or not.
