Carrying on from the Batsman ODI Numbers Breakdown lets have a look at the Bowlers using the same format and same Tier Rankings

Sikander Raza _______ 03 Wkts____07 Inns____44.00 Ave____5.31 Econ
As you can see the bowling numbers are worse than the batsman against the Tier 1 sides, only the 3 players ( Chatara, Rainsford & Price ) have more wickets than innings and only Price averages under 30!!! The worst figures belong to Cremer with that average of 186.66!!!!

Looking at the numbers against Tier 2 sides it's no surprise that the numbers look a lot better, especially for Mupariwa and Chatara who have much more wickets than matches played. Ray Price also has fairly good numbers for a holding spinner.

Looking at the numbers against Tier 3 sides again no surprises that the majority of the guys have really good records especially Cremer's who is taking nearly two wickets per match !!! Interestingly the only guys to really struggle are Jarvis and Panyangara who haven't had a good time opening the bowling against Mohammed Shahzad from Afghanistan. I'm sure KJ would enjoy bowling to the Afghanis on some home decks simialr to what we saw last time Afghanistan toured in 2017.

Re: Bowlers Numbers Breakdown
Hmmm 2 questions for me. Is Mupariwa underrated?remember he was discarded during the Streak days because apparently he wasnt quick enough if I remember correctly(the irony in that is Jarvis probably bowls around the same pace as Mupariwa).
2nd question is Cremer overrated? Im very surprised by his stats but numbers dont lie. Those tier 3 numbers have heavily impacted his stats. His tier 1 and 2 numbers kind of remind me of the tests he played where he would get stats of like 4-200.
Rainsford also had some good numbers

Re: Bowlers Numbers Breakdown
In fact if you look at those numbers even closer then you will see that Cremer's trajectory is very similar to Mpofu's. If Mpofu had played 50 games against tier 3 opposition would we rank him as highly as Cremer?
This analysis is very good Jaybro. Really breaks it down.

Re: Bowlers Numbers Breakdown
Thanks TapsC, much like Zimbabwe cricket at the moment my work is very quiet
As for Mupariwa his numbers were obviously very good and he was definitely discarded unfairly there’s no doubt about it, even upon his return for 2015 WC he did ok but Whatmore also discarded him. His numbers probably benefitted from playing an average Bangladesh side a lot on some dodgy pitches, but he was always amongst the wickets no matter who Zimbabwe played.
Cremer is the guy most people will want to talk about because of the large disparity between his Tier 1 numbers and his Tier 3 numbers. He’s definitely struggled in the small amount of games he’s played against the Tier 1 sides, but I think all spinners struggle against India right? His struggles against South Africa are more concerning but all those matches were played in South Africa, I wonder how his numbers would look if he played in the tri series in 2014 when Utseya, Williams & Nyumbu terrorised the Aussies & Saffers??
Like the majority of the guys his Tier 1 numbers are poor, Tier 2 mediocre and Tier 3 very good

Very interesting stats, jaybro, thanks for the work!
In defence of Cremer one must say that his economy, even against Tier 1 sides, is not as atrocious as his average.

Is the average given in the list a typo then?
Re: Bowlers Numbers Breakdown
No sorry the comment is incorrect, I started this thread a few weeks back and realised today that from my filtering of stats I’d missed the first few years of Price’s career, his early numbers were very average.foreignfield wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 9:38 amVery interesting stats, jaybro, thanks for the work!

Re: Bowlers Numbers Breakdown
Interesting to read. But I was thinking about Cremer's performances and as far as I know he hasn't played a lot of cricket against Tier 1 sides in what I would call his best years (since 2016ish) so I think that would skew his stats. Most of his Tier 1 performances would've been earlier in his career (even as early as his teens) which, for a leg-spinner especially, could paint a very unflattering picture.
