Ncube mania##

Never thought he would be a mainstay of a batting line up.

Eagles won by a run, thanks to a vintage display of Jakiel death bowling.

Im trying to understand how the Mountaineers with another 13 overs to spare and only 1 wicket in hand needing 2 runs to win lost because of a runout. the Don has some explaining to do

Rhinos also bowled for 81. Looks like the Eagles and Tuskers are better in the shorter formats although on paper you would say the Rhinos and Mountaineers are stronger. Interesting

Two runs needed to win with last man Nyauchi facing, He played the first four balls well, but couldn't pierce the field. The fourth he drove near to Chigumbura at mid-on, slightly deep. Was there a quick run or not? Difficult decision needed by the batsmen under pressure. Probably better to have waited, but so difficult when an instantaneous decision was needed. They started, hesitated, decided against it. But Chigumbura was very quick, Donald slipped and fell as he turned back, brilliant throw by Chigs hit the stumps and he was gone. Sad ending.

Eagles were disgracefully slow with their over rate, especially at the death, but unfortunately they were five minutes within the cut-off point, so the regulations said no fine or suspension could be made. I was very impressed with the attitude of the Mountaineers coach (Shepherd Makunura) and several players (Donald, Timmy and others) as I went to commiserate with them after the match. They were deeply disappointed, but did not blame their luck, as they could easily have done - for example, five lbws against them, and the one against Shingi at least looked definitely too high. They took it very philosophically, in excellent sporting spirit.

Looks like some warn and slow pitches for the second lot of games this weekend, most likely using the same pitch from the Saturday to save costs??

Either way some guys have put their hands up for a spot in the ODI Squads to be picked.

No, in Mutare it was a different but inferior pitch.

Ok there you go, really doesn’t help the standard of cricket when the standard of pitches is poor

Thanks John
