Zimbabwe MOTM Thread

Post by jaybro » Tue May 28, 2019 2:10 am

Been looking around for a list of MOTM awards but I can't find it on cricinfo so I guess they don't count it as a stat, so I thought I'd make my own list, thought we could update it as the games are played like we have done with the ODI Numbers Thread etc.

Took a while to get through all the matches Zimbabwe have played but this is the list for all three formats according to cricinfo, I did find that no MOTM awards were given for the last two ODI tours of Kenya (one being the tri-series with Ireland) whilst a lot of Zimbabwe's earlier Tests also had no MOTM.

Absolutely brilliant by you jaybro , surprised Williams was ahead of Taylor in odis ! I think we all love Williams but also forget how good he has been to zim cricket. Great cricketer
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

Thanks Bligz

Yes Williams cops a lot of stick here on the forum for not being a ‘match winner’ but I think that’s unfair and this proves that.

Few surprises for me

Cremer only 1 ODI MOTM !!! Unfortunately for GC the series where he did really well against Kenya had no MOTM, also the tour of Scotland where he got a 5-for. He is one of four guys to have MOTM awards in all three forms, BT, Taibu & Hamilton the other guys.

Sean Ervine no ODI MOTM surprised me

Also considering how many centuries he’s made I expected more MOTM’s for BT.

Flowers in a world of their own. Zim has a knack of producing brothers/family talent...Flowers, Blacks, Strangs, Ndlovus, Currans, Whittals, Locks...

Williams would be getting his MOTMs against associates, I guarantee it.
The match winner thing is valid.

He is however a fantastic servanf to ZC and one of my true favourites.

These are the real MOTM for Zimbabwe. Of course the lowly sides have been left out, including Bangladesh and Kenya. Kenya had a batting order which was way too weak to count, and Bangladesh in all those years had bowlers that were way too weak(apart form Mohammad Rafique, later Mashrafee and Shakib, and now Mustafizur) hence their years of mediocrity. Likes of Hami and Flowers lose a few MOTM as a result, like most other weaker players, but it's a true reflection.

The "stupid theory" apparently still has Williams coming out as a minnow-basher, which is about accurate.

Last I checked Bangladesh & Afghanistan are ranked higher than Zimbabwe??

But yeah let’s call them minnows so it suits your narrative 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

What’s the argument ? He’s a minnow basher ? Or he only scores runs in dead rubbers?
