Is anyone concerned about Chigumburas bowling since hes been captain? Maybe its nothing really, and its only his first series as captain, but in this series his series figures are ...
E Chigumbura (Zim) 8.0 overs 0 maidens 83 runs 0 wickets
I'm sure theres nothing to be concerned about, but during the Twenty20 world cup and in the West Indies his overall stats were
E Chigumbura (Zim) 31 overs 1 maiden 208 9 wickets
And a average of 23.1
Is there a reason for this?
With the lack of pace bowling I'm hoping he can return to this form when we played in the WI!

His pace has gone....completly gone. Mpofu was twice as quick as him today, and I didn't have a speed gun with me. It's not hard to tell.
If captaincy effects his bowling I dont think he should take on the job. Somebody like Ray Price would thrive in that situation

He should not open the bowlling, even if we play 1 seamer. He is not the one to bowl at 140 km/hr nor can he bowl consistently at one spot. His goal should be to come and bowl 5-6 good overs when the feild is spread and bat at 5/6 and get qucik runs.
It is important to stand up for what is right.

Agreed, he's not the 87mph bowler we've come to love and know any more, those days have gone. He should focus on his batting, and like you rightfully said Kartik, when he does bowl he should focus on line and length, opposed to pace.kartik wrote:He should not open the bowlling, even if we play 1 seamer. He is not the one to bowl at 140 km/hr nor can he bowl consistently at one spot. His goal should be to come and bowl 5-6 good overs when the feild is spread and bat at 5/6 and get qucik runs.
We've all said it and we all knew it. The captaincy would have a negative effect on his bowling, just like it did with Shaun Pollock in 2002-03

Ah doesn't sound to good if his pace has gone
Maybe when he joins county cricket for Northants and he plays without the pressures of being captain it will hopefully mean he will regain his form with the ball?

Fingers crossed ay Mike. We could do with his bowling at the moment, though Chris Mpofu seems to holding up pretty well

Re: Is anyone concerned about Chigumbura BOWLING
Looking at Chigs and Chibhabha today, they look like they concentrate on batting alone, they are not genuine all rounders and if they can't find that balance, do not know the way way forward as they are far from it concerning bowling, Even Masakadza bowled much better than the 2 of them.
Re: Is anyone concerned about Chigumbura BOWLING
It is hard to believe that becoming the captain has caused Chigumbura to loose his pace but I guess that is the only explanation at the moment. Unless he has some sort of injury or strain that is limiting him. We certainly need his bowling as without it the team would loose its balance.
Chibhabha certainly should not be bowling in international cricket, he needs to focus on his batting, particularll against spin. I have never been a Chibhabha fan but he played well today and proved me wrong.

Chigumbura has not bowled to well this tri-series but i dont think we should be concerned. He will bounce back and his stint in the english county will do him good. Chris Mpofu has been lively in the matches he has played and i think we should continue with him as he looks to be a great prospect. Blignaut showed in game three that he still has what it takes to be a bowler at international level.

Re: Is anyone concerned about Chigumbura BOWLING
Blignaut surprised me actually. I was expecting a 75-76 mph bowlers, but he can still bomb then down at 85 clicks, and his line and length were impecable, not to mention the away swing he was getting
