Hi friends,

Lets start a new thread on "best of enemies" of course involving Zimbabwean cricketers. We can also include examples of team-mates falling out on and off the field. Let me begin with an all time classic.

1. Eddo Brandes vs Glenn McGrath
McGrath was bowling to the Zimbabwe number 11 - who was unable to get his bat anywhere near the ball.
McGrath, frustrated that Brandes was still at the crease, wandered up during one particular over and inquired: "Why are you so fat?"
Quick as a flash, Brandes replied: "Because every time I make love to your wife, she gives me a biscuit."
Even the Aussie slip fielders were in hysterics.

2. Andrew Flower vs James Foster
Foster and Flower first clashed when the batsman was given not out off a caught behind appeal when he had scored 51. The pair exchanged angry words with England skipper Nasser Hussain joining in to defend his young 'keeper. Flower, who was brimming with aggression throughout his innings of 142, reacted angrily on 99 when Foster appealed in vain for another catch behind. The two players squared up to each other as handbags were exchanged at 10 paces, and umpire Ian Richardson had to part the two players.

Foster, England captain Nasser Hussain and Flower were all summoned to a disciplinary hearing following the stormy match, which England won by four wickets to win the series in Harare (Oct 2001). Foster escaped suspension by Colonel Ali but was severely reprimanded for his spat.

Ironically, Flower became his team-mate at Essex the very next season.

3. Graeme Hick vs Chicken George

Brandes 4-21 Albury
England needed a mere 135 to win, but Eddo, who bowled his ten overs on the trot, dismissed Graham Gooch lbw first ball, and then in quick succession removed Allan Lamb, Robin Smith and his former school-mate Graeme Hick, the last two with off-cutters that went through the gate. This set up a magnificent nine-run Zimbabwean victory.

Dave Haughton: "Eddo went to school with Graeme (Hick) and if you want to get the best out of him put Hick in the opposition."

Kevin Curran and Charles Coventry





After the appalling tour of the Caribbean in 2006, hard hitting batter Charles Coventry was sent home for disciplinary reasons after having a heated feud with then coach Kevin Curran.
Coventry then went into the painting and decorating business, before taking up cricket in both South Africa and England.
It wasn't until 2009 that he made his comeback series, scoring a incredible score of 194* in the process.

5. Mark Boucher (Sth Africa) Sledges Tatenda Taibu (Zimbabwe)
I hated him since then no matter what he do with bat or gloves. Pathetic
