The future cricketers

Having followed the current Zimbabwe under 19's series against South Africa it's become apparent to me that something's wrong. Is it the fact that the players are too inexperienced.....perhaps they lack the required mental and physical fitness to succeed at this level.....or perhaps they have technical problems with their own personal game. Either way something is going wrong.

Previous under 19's sides have atleast competed in the big tournaments, for example the 2006 Under 19's world Cup. We went out and performed extremely well, regardless of what was going on back home. Our boys showed promise for the future, which I'm afraid can't be said for the current crop. So I'd like to hear from you guys on the form as to what you think. What's the reason for our poor performances, and tell me your top 5 most promising cricketers.
Here's mine:
Malcolm Waller
Kyle Jarvis
Nathan Waller
Tendai Chitara
Foster Mutizwa

Interesting how I've only chosen one out of the current under 19's squad

I'm afraid a lot of the things you have sighted are just excuses... The simple fact is that at the moment, the team is poor. To fix the problem, we need more kids to be playing better cricket. Whether that is at schools, clubs, junior franchise sides, etc. Higher participation rate, and more/better practise and matches.

I think ZC and all the plauyers needed this rude awakening, our under 19 need reorganising in terms of matches and coaching. We played badly at the under 19 world cup.

zims a small cricketing community with a smallish playing base.

in this case they're simply crap. Only baby waller looks any good.

they will all fade away bar the odd few, its a lost generation. i jut hope the under 17s are better and we can focus on them instead. our logan cuppers are still young, we can afford to bypass the current 19s crop.

even the under 19s with elton and co. they were a gun team and alot of those guys are in the a grade now.

This crop of under-19 players does seem pretty bad - the problem seems to be more than just inexperience. I am particularly disappointed in PJ Moor, for such a highly touted player has he ever even played a decent innings?

Exactly ! He's had so many chances playing, and even captaining, the side but how many times has he performed ? Not once. Moor is one hell of a cricketer  :|
