It's not entirely his fault. The SRC freakshow got us into this situation.
I was quite content for them to take the actions that they did, HOWEVER they screwed the pooch by being neither here nor there. Either go all in, and suffer the consequences of the suspension by saving the game locally, or don't get involved in the first place. By taking the half measure of getting involved and then retreating at the first sign of trouble they have caused irreparable harm to Zim cricket. It was weak and pathetic.
Can't actually pay that too much.

Yes, SRC did what they did, but Mukhulani fought it, and not for crickets sake. He said it himself in the interview that he is fighting the SRC because he needs to restore his personal reputation. He also said how he does not care for the game. He also pleaded with ICC to be suspended. That is definitely not acting in the games best interest.

They players then, at least some of them were making a case for their team and their country, whilst others were choosing to sit on their asses and side with Mukhulani. Those same players were ready to throw each other under the bus in an instant. Now, if any of those players had heard his interview, why would you choose to side with someone who says they do not care for the game?

Anyway, SRC then outline to the players and staff to come to work. They have a plan and they have a structure in place. They've got the finances and the domestic set up all in the works and detailed. Certain players and staff refuse to turn up. Essentially this puts the SRC in a position where they can't exactly push forward. This is where Kirsty steps in, has this mediation part and to save her skin pleads with SRC to stop.
It was amateur hour by the SRC.

They should have had all of the contingency plans in place before they took action. Nothing that happened (ICC suspension, Mukuhlani being obstinate, some of the players backing the old regime, etc) was surprising - yet the SRC were totally unprepared for any of it and had no plan B.

It was unforgivable that once they involved themselves and it went to hell that they then recused themselves. Unforgivable. That was the final chance to salvage Zimbabwe cricket and they let it slip.
I’m prepared to guarantee that they were told to back off that Metbank thing. That’s a political hot potato. Hundreds of millions have gone through there, implicating many very influential powerful people. Mlotshwa would have been told to take his foot off the pedal.

So why even put his foot on the pedal in the first place?
Nothing was revealed after the SRC got involved that we didn't know beforehand.

They just bungled it. It shows how desperate we were to have put our faith in a branch of the Zimbabwean government, that wonderfully efficient institution, to sort out Zim cricket

It will come out in the wash sooner or later. As I suggested, I’m betting SRC were told to back off because all roads led to Metbank. There’s a silence over a few things and I smell a big rat.

T20s are the greatest equaliser in the game of cricket.

106 runs from Sri Lanka's junk squad were scored at a Strike Rate of over 150.

That's very tough to match no matter how good a batsman you are if you naturally connot go at that rate, and your side loses probably the only batsman who can(Umar Akmal) for a first ball duck.

SCORECARD: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/195 ... an-2019-20

I rate Ahmed Shehzad extremely highly. None of the ZIM batsmen rated by ZCF are anywhere near his level. But in T20s, be rest assured that I would pick Elton and Zhuwao over him any day!

The only thumbs up that I can give to Pakistan, having made the huge mistake of picking both in the same XI instead of just one of them, is that they made both Babar and Shehzad open because they simply cannot be accomodated any lower. Unfortunately for Pakistan, they used up 3 overs for just 17 runs. Left way too much for the big hitters to do with just 1 batsman who can hit sixes!

ZIM already have Elton and Zhuwao. Look for similar players to round of the 5/6 batsmen like Kasuza and Sauramba.

Moor had a very sketchy and ugly early part of the innings and shouldn't have survived beyond 30 runs anyway. Munyonga was glorious to watch not brutal enough, and also offered an easy chance before 30 runs too.He can survive undeer good bowling becasue he's compact, but there won't be runs on the board. Batsmen who can force the issue and throw quality bowlers of course, are required in this format. Even is you get bowled out for 90 on some occasions. Fact that Misbah can launch huge sixes does not make him a T20 batsman.

Would India have won the 2007 T20 final if they had both Rohit and Gambhir opening and tied down early? How did that great Sri Lankan batting order lose to that Pakistan side in 2009? Very simple both side pushed Misbah+Younis and Mahela+Sanga so low down the order for the big hitters. Except Pakistan's big hitters came off, but Sri Lanka's did not. And again 10 times out of 10 I would pick Afridi, Malik and Kamran in a T20 XI ahead of Mahela and Sanga!

This is T20 ZIM. Just 120 balls! Get with the program!

You would pick Elton and Zhuwao over Bradman, we get it.

You literally say, batsmen who can force the issue. Then highlight Misbah as one of those batsmen, but he is not a T20 batsmen. Yet, you would pick Elton and Zhuwao only because they can launch huge sixes. Your bias is getting too easy to spot now.

You hate Moor so much, and yes a better fielding side would have taken their catches. Fact is, its the same side that the like of Chari, Regis, Madziva etc all failed against. Moor took his chances and cruised us to victory. He took his chance after they dropped him and was hitting cleanly and powerfully.

Case in point, Shahzaib Hasan was just 19 years old, very young - ahead of several quality batsmen who didn't make the squad, in that 2009 T20 final Pakistan won over SL, but he was in there because he's a proper T20 batsman.

In one of his recent games before he got banned, he showed up Ahmed Shezhad: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/179 ... up-2016-17

Imran Nazir was in that 2007 final they lost to IND - even though he was he was the best batsman between both sides. At 38 years old he could still do serious damage and outbat a top Haris Sohail, because that's what he does - serious damage: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/866 ... up-2013-14

Elton will continue to show up all and sundry because that's what he does - consistently hit sixes and win ZIM games while at it against quality sides, and the Ahmed Shehzads and Haris Sohails of ZIM will consistently fail against weaker opposition.

The rightmindset is what wins you matches in T20. How on earth were we going to win any T20 competition with Kallis, Smith, Boucher, Amla, Kuhn and even Prince in the XI!?

Would be great if Oman pull it off!

Ireland need 65 from 43 balls with 2 wickets on hands.

Losing big, bowled out with over 5 overs remaining, is less shameful because you went out with Stirling and O'Brien your two best aggressive batsmen leading from the front. You will win far more than you lose with that mindset.
