Mavuta is one lucky boy. Feel a bit for the likes of Mufadza and Chisoro.
Yeah, when Mavuta first showed up he was billed as an allrounder but I haven't seen any batting performances worth noting from him. Chisoro on the other hand got a ton in the Rhino's last match and his economy wasn't too bad either.

Brilliant. All the players I wanted to see have been included.
Don't believe I've ever seen a poster say this on ZCF before. To be fair, its rare to see such a post on any cricket forum as there will always be someone unhappy about their boy(s) missing out.

Poor old Chisoro he must have fucked someone’s niece 😂😂😂😂

How could he be left out? There must be more too it! Maybe Googly, TapsC or Zimfan1 could do some digging ?

I doubt these guys will play next round of Logan cup they’ll go into camp and probably play some Inter squad matches, I guess if they take it seriously it could be even better than a Logan cup match?

You said it. Chisoro must be gutted. He deserved a call up.

The fact that Mutombodzi and Mavuta offer something Williams and Raza don't is probably why they got picked instead of chisoro who I have heard does have some issues with the admin. He will probably go to Bangladesh next month

Now I'm assuming we are going to play on seamer friendly pitches which will probably see us pick 4 fast bowlers. Now I'm not a fan of Chibhabha (especially as a captain)right now but what I do know is that he has a chance to get picked because 1 he plays pace well and 2 he bowls pace himself.

Also have PJ and Burl put their hands up and said they want to open. PJ did open and actually did worse than Chamu in the game he did play. Don't forget PJ doesnt bowl and also PJ does better in spin friendly conditions whilst Chamu is the complete opposite. Prince Masvaure also bowls some left arm medium pacers.Chataras injury might force them to pick 2 openers who can bowl if required. Burl did not play but he bowls leg spin, something none of the senior members do. What might work in PJs favour is that he might keep because spinners won't be much of a threat in those conditions although the problem he has there is that Regis scored a century and he failed.

What I am basically saying is don't be surprised to see a team like this

Chamu
Prince
Ervine
Taylor
Williams
Raza
Regis
Burl
Tiripano
Jarvis
Mumba.

With an injured Chatara Mashinge PJ and Mutombodzi on the side lines. So basically PJ needs Chatara to be fit for him to have the best chance of making the team. if Chatara isnt going to play then we might see Ngarava or Tshuma(they say he has gas but that's probably 135kph by Zim standards) drafted in. The practice matches plus this round of domestic fixtures will also be key.

Not to rain on the parade but it’s kind of easy to have all your favourites when they make a squad of 23.

Don’t be surprised if come time for the 11, 2 of your guys miss out and Elton Chigumbura is selected from outside the 23 squad.

Chamu bowls ‘pace’?

For the opening spot, I think it should go to Pj and Burl as it’s time they both delivered and Pj has a very standstill ‘4 or nothing’ style that probably suits opening. I say this with the knowledge of we don’t have any specialist openers in the country besides the non commital Mawoyo.
Mawoyo does have an opportunity for a career renaissance if he wants it but I think he has a better future as a commentator. Up to him. It’s his time to shine.

Having these two up top also clears the road for the 7/8 spot to go to someone younger who we need to blood for the future. muyonga, Murray or even Madhevere and Myers to take the 8 and 9 (Tiripano) does respectively. Ease them into the top level.

BUT,
That said.
This forum has never been kind to Chamu Chibhabha.
Yes he’s never progressed or kicked on despite being past his peak.

However he has also frequently dished up half centuries against the best teams and plays pace exceptionally well.
We need to remember we didn’t just lose Hammy as an opener, we also lost Solomon in the commotion of August.

We just lost our two openers after already having issues with the opening spot.

It’s not that weird he is back in the team and it’s not a stupid decision to have him opening as a one day batsman in the short term. If he could pick his run rate up from the 60s to the 80s, he’s almost be a Zim legend.

The captaincy is the more perplexing issue. As if Taylor or the test skipper Williams is going to be inspired by such a player.

To be fair, a young leggie like Mavuta has more upside than Chisoro who is probably just a containment bowler. You have to factor that Sri Lanka being an Asian side are at least decent players of spin, and the pitches probably won't be spinning much.
