Best Achievement
What do u guys think has been the biggest achievement by a zimbabwean cricketer so far?Certainly i think rise of ANDY FLOWER to the top of ICC RANKINGS.
Re: Best Achievement
I would agree that Andy Flower being rated as the world's best test batsmen was our finest individual achievement. What was remarkable about his achievement is that the team would often fall apart around him and he would come in and hit a double century. He was never flustered by what was going on around him.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Re: Best Achievement
Yeah I agree with Eugene on this (By the way a very good thread Pearl), Andy Flower was by far our best test match quality batter, and to have reached his heights was a great achievement. Though I must say, Charles Coventry's innings on 194* is definitely up there.
Re: Best Achievement
Andy Flower facinates me. I mean, its outstanding that he actually reached the top of the ICC rankings considering he played in such a poor team (no offence)!!!
I really really really really really really hope that he releases a autobiography when he finishes coaching England. I would love to read his story on how he became such a good batter and about what it was like to play for Zimbabwe and everything. I'd pay over a £100 for the book

Re: Best Achievement
The best team performance I've seen was the Twenty20 win against Australia in 2007. Everyone pulled their weight that day; Brent and Chigumbura bowled superbly, the coaching and captaincy was spot on for the conditions at Newlands, the fielding was excellent, Taylor had a field day with bat and gloves and the other batsmen all played the roles to perfection (Sibanda with the aggressive start, Chibhabha and Masakadza supporting Taylor).
Coventry's 194 was incredible, but I think losing the match took a lot of the gloss off that. Brendan Taylor's last ball six to beat Bangladesh, for a moment of individual brilliance, is very hard to top.

Re: Best Achievement
1 (Team) - Twenty20 win against Australia - Yep the way Vusi started I remember he treated Brett Lee with such disdain with some sweet drives(Its cos of this innings that I still have a soft spot for Vusi oh and His 1000runs in the season). And Eltons and Brents bowling as well and the catches, Vusi's signature direct hits, Even Tibba had a bowl when we took those catches I knew we were going to win - And the puzzled head scratching ponting, jaw in palm expressions of Ponting were priceless and topped off by pulling out a shabby peice of paper from his pocket and looking at it for a moment then realising it was upside down showed that he had been defeated and the only way to win the game was to depend on Ducksworth! And Zim BEAT AUS it wasnt because of some spectaular crumble from Australiabrmtaylor.com admin wrote:The best team performance I've seen was the Twenty20 win against Australia in 2007. 2 Andy Flower at Number 1 against all odds, and now as England Coach
3 Taylors Last ball six - I was there and why I remember the 12th man wanted to come onto the field with some "water or new gloves" obviously bringing instructions to Taylor and Taylor angrily refused and told him to go back. Cos he KNEW what needed to be done, what COULD you have told him at that time. he also refused a rumn from Mupariwa cos he knew if there was one person who could win this game it was him. That Micheal Jordan type decision-making Brilliant!
4 Coventry's 194 and the biggest disservice by Zim was loosing that match!
4 Eddo Brandes Hattrick against England
Re: Best Achievement
That Last ball 6 should be beamed across every Zimbabwean living room.
What was the feeling around the ground?
Afterwards what was the feeling around the nation? Did the country take notice?
In Austral.ia they are constantly beaming into our tvs the match that bevan won on the last ball with a 4.

Around the ground it was indescribable man it felt like Independence in 1980(I am sure thats how our parents felt!) First Pitch invasion I had seen since Laras 384.
One incident that gave me goose pimples was people just started singing the national anthem! Zimbabweans don't just soing the national anthem like the Americans and their star spangled banner - That was really special man.
Pitch Invasion - http://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video.php?v=6282469111
Osama was also at the ground http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=6282454111 He was waving the flag way before K'naan

No such like here dude, The public broadcaster is a propaganda machine, and Taylor being white didnt help, it was never going to happen - The regime celebrating a White young man? Nope. They would not see it as a national achievement. Maybe if it had been against Australia or Eng they would have had a field day and politicised it.In Austral.ia they are constantly beaming into our tvs the match that bevan won on the last ball with a 4.
