If BD beats Scotland today, we're virtually through to the QFs where we will likely face Afghanistan or South Africa. So unless we choke yet again, we should be a lock for the semifinals. Bangladesh can beat any team in this tournament, except India (who we did manage to beat in England last summer, and came within 5 runs of at the Asia Cup final), so I really hope that someone else knocks India out this tournament.
Afghans have very good record against Bangladesh & Pakistan at Under 19 level
Yes but BD are still favorites when playing Afg. We can even beat India, but the odds are 10 to 1.

That has been historical problem of Bangladeshi Fans they play alot with Mouth, they wins every game against strong team before its gets started
Last time BD U19 team defeated IND U19 was in England U19 Tri Nation, that too a team, where 80% of the present Under 19 Indian players represnting WC were missing.Speak with some logic otherwise your comments are revealing same with those troll pages :D

You have to remember that in 50 over cricket, Bangladesh have been a "strong team" for the last decade. We have been continously ranked 7th in ODIs since the 2015 WC, ahead of other strong teams like Sri Lanka and West Indies.

The U-19 team is actually slightly stronger in recent years. They finished 6th at the 2018 WC in New Zealand, and 3rd in 2016 at home. They qualify for the Quaterfinals more often (2020, 2018, 2016, 2012) than not (2014, 2010).

Finally you brought cricket sense here. Though subject was India which you skipped off, but its true Bangladesh U19 is 2nd best team in Asia, but India U19 team is playing the game at differant level. Its better to give respect then playing the game by Mouth

Sri Lanka Team was facing problem in bringing talents after the retirwment of the greats it took them more time, but from 2019 situation has improved as they performed well in South Africa and also in Pakistan. As far Windies is concerned, their team had problem with board under Ex CEO David Cameron, they had their starts not playing for Windies regularly.

Now with Ricky Skerritt appointented as head, and Pollard as the skipper Windies are in verge to rise again, they played a competative cricket against Afghans, India & Ireland team. This team will be again at pick very soon as their problemetic selection policies has ended. Watch out for that under 19 kid allrounder Nyeem Young, he has got some talent in him.

As far Bangladesh is concerned they have been best asian team next to India, recent full Pakistan Tour will decide wheather the fact is true or not ? so far they have been comoetative with India, beaten Sri Lanka had even odd performance against the Afghans and also beaten Pakistan in few occassions.Among others they were competative with NZ, beaten Proteas once but were hammered by top teams that includes England & Australia

I feel what truly holds Bangladesh back is health.

Cricket isn’t a game for a big guy but a lot of Bangladeshis are very very small, much smaller than Indians, this holds back on pace bowler development.

Imagine Bangladeshi batting and Aussie/West Indian bowling speed and hitting power.

Jeez there were a couple of strong looking young Bangladeshi batters. That one guy could hit it a mile.
Those West Indians are just giants, even for 25 year olds.

Except that barring Ishant Sharma, none of the Indian fast bowlers is taller than 5'9" or 5'10" (Bumrah, Umesh, Shami). Most of the Bangladeshi seamers in recent memory have been at least 6 feet (Taskin, Ebadat, Khaled, Mashrafee, Shahadat). Fizz is 5'11".

Diet more like it. Very little red meat eaten in the general BD diet. Most of the essential amino acids come from fish and that is almost certainly not as good as red meat.

BD's problem is lack of professionalism amongst most of the players and the BCB which waits till the last possible moment to address most problems and even then with a half-assed solution.

Ok, I didn’t realise they were that tall as a unit.
You are right, it has to be diet then. They definitely are skinny.

Some of our batsmen are tiny, which makes our fast bowlers look even taller. And yes, our fast bowlers are insanely skinny. The only guy who had a decent build was Taskin - and he was a natural stick figure as well. The heights of the Bangladeshi fast bowlers, past and present, are as follows:

Shoriful Islam (current U-19 player) - 6'3"
Shahadat Hossain - 6'3"
Khaled Ahmed - 6'2"-6'3"
Taskin Ahmed - 6'2"
Al-Amin Hossain - 6'2"
Mashrafee - 6'1"
Ebadat Hossain - 6'1"
Nayeem Hasan - 6'1"
Mustafizur Rahman - 5'11"
Rubel Hossain - 5'10"
Shafiul Islam - 5'9"
Abu Jayed - 5'8"

So from this list you can see the median height is 6'1". Not tall by international standards (James Anderson is 6'2" and he's not regarded as a "tall" bowler), but not short either. Nayeem Hasan is off course a spinner, but I threw him in there as well :D Our other U-19 pacers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury are also about 6 feet tall I think. I'll be able to tell once I see them play on the broadcast next week.

But for England or Australia, a bowler wouldn't be considered "tall" unless he is 6'4" to 6'6" inches in height. For example, Pat Cummins is almost 6'3" and he's not considered a "tall" bowler.

For the batters, they are shorter than many international batsmen, but most of them are still close to average height:

Mahmudullah - 5'11"
Tamim - 5'10"
Soumya Sarkar - 5'10"
Shakib - 5'9"
Mosaddek Hossain - 5'8"
Liton Das - 5'7"
Ashraful - 5'4"
Aftab Ahmed - 5'4"
Mushfiqur - 5'3"
Mominul - 5'3"

I think its because a number of our most prominent batsmen, Ashraful/Aftab/Mominul, are smaller than the average schoolboy, that there is this perception that Bangladeshi players are much smaller than other teams. That and we don't have a KP type batsman who is 6'4" and towers above most quick bowlers.

But as a rule, yes Bangladeshis are shorter in stature than Indians and Pakistanis and definitely Afghans. But our cricketers are actually probably just as tall on average (bearing in mind the Mohammad Irfan's are outliers).

South Africa have won the toss and put Bangladesh in to bat for the 3rd QF. Will be a pressure situation for BD in this clash of chokers.

I was really hoping BD would bowl first.
