@ Zimdoggy.

We're in a better position today because BT, Williams & Raza got scores. That they didn't get these scores--playing basically in the same mode--on the second day in the first Test you can't blame on the fact that they batted later then; the pitch was still perfectly good for batting on day two.

Aside from that endless, and quite frankly pointless discussion, the outfield appears to be much quicker today as compared with Test No. one.

I think we need 500, and that's still a long way away.

The last lbw shout of the day looked out to me.

I'd be surprised if we are still batting at lunch tomorrow.

I’m with the Cribbage dude, I feel we will do well in this innings.
I predict one of the three people who can hold a bat here will kick on a bit (probably Regis) and we will get to 450. But it won’t be enough. Sri Lanka will get 450-500 and we will head for a draw.

Yeah, come on Zim! Let's put some more runs on the board and at least make the Lankans sweat a bit.

Bad day at the office for their SLA.

What would be an interesting scenario is if Mutombodzi is the next to go - could Chakabva and Tiripano then stonewall for a session?
It'd be great to keep these guys out in the field and frustrate them.

Overall, a good day's play. Williams getting a well deserved ton, solid fifties for Taylor and Raza. Kasuza continuing where he left off. If we were given 6/352 before play every one of us would have taken that - and we still have a chance to turn this into something really competitive tomorrow. Lucky we bat deep. The first session tomorrow will be telling - if we get through that unscathed we put ourselves in a terrific position. If we crumble then it'll be tough to get back into this game given how weak and inexperienced our bowling attack is.

Anti-run rate brigade wont be happy today:lol:

great first day from Zimbabwe much improved from 1st test, id take 350/6 over 180/2 anyday. very positive cricket. apart from the Raza dismissal everybody else got really good balls (maybe Kasuza should have played a shot, he played well though especially with BT).

i think we have to be positive and not think of the worst, test cricket isnt about time spent batting, its about taking 20 wickets,(Zimbabwe could bat out 2 sessions in the 1st match playing negative cricket) you have to be able to create pressure whether you have 150 on the board or 500. what Zimbabwe has right now is scoreboard pressure (check recently ended SA vs England test).

i believe if we can get between 420 - 500 we can win. pamberi ne run rate :D

Decent day. Tomorrow's 1st session will decide the game for me. I don't see a draw happening here because by day 4, the turn will be too much to handle.

If we roll over tomorrow Sri Lanka could clear 350 in a similar amount of time and we are back to square 1. That is why test cricket is special. There are multiple outcomes possible. We can't celebrate yet.
