There’s some ying and yang to this comment but I see these guys as future Elton Chigumburas.
Kids who are capable of big things, but won’t be world beaters. Ultimately averaging 25-30 internationally and producing a few amazing 40 ball fifties but no consistency or dominance.
Guys that will make the national team but not elevate it.

We need 3 more Taylor’s to prop these dudes up.

Maybe Byron and this Muyeye nigga are the guys to target and work around. They seem to be world class capable. These under 19s are the guys that play around them.
This isn’t necessarily a slur on them. They still have a future.

I read an article today that said another young white batter from SA has left to play at Durham on a Kolpak deal...
David Bedingham, averages 45 in FC, has an ancestral visa or something. Keeps slipping away

So, why are players like Philander and Amla signing yearly deals??

An initial rush.
My instinct says they will protect players already in the system, but cut out new Kolpaks. I welcome it.

I do too. It's too much of an easy exit point

I cringe when I see players like this littering our FC system and yet we can't keep hold of a player like Roche

Too be clear. I don’t want to deny players opportunities.
I HATE players having to give up these international careers to play for Hampeonshire.

I want them to do both.
Solves the zim problem.

Imagine Welch and Byrom playing for Zim, county and Logan. Perfect. For all.

I want a rule that guys can play anywhere and they are eligible as long as they’ve committed to their countries first class system when not on national duty.

This has enormous implications. The die-hard Poms that don’t want to see any foreigners in their County cricket may soon get their wish, or a version of it. There are a lot of very influential guys that have been waiting for this day.
Personally I think red ball will lose some of its appeal when it can ill-afford to and there will be some sort of compromise, well it looks like there is already- a moratorium until the end of the season.
You’ll find the T20’s and the 100 ball (I don’t know the regs on this?) which allow two overseas may gain disproportionate popularity. A foreigner or two in a team always adds spice and makes for a good yardstick.

Surrey will be scratching their heads, they’re loaded with overseas and Kolpak guys. Interesting times ahead.

The integrity of the product of the world game will be much better for it.

No longer will England suck up the best talent elsewhere, play two games, get sick of them, then they ‘wallow’ in county for the next decade.

It does suck for the players who wanted out though. I do have sympathy.
