What everyone acting like Nyauchi not being selected is a shock?

He took what, one or two wickets against SL, bowled slow, and was part of the ensemble that couldn’t bowl SL out.

Is this where we are at now?

Nyauchi looks very much like Tiripano as a bowler. Mumba, Jarvis, and Chatara I think are the quicks who can threaten the most in red ball cricket.

Nyauchi took 5 wickets for about 31 a piece against Sri Lanka

Head and shoulders above the rest of the seamers

Personally I’d rather have him bowling than Tiripano, but they have too many No.11s because they picks a spinner who can’t (or bowl)

It’s a shootout between Mumba & Nyauchi and I have a feeling they might just go for Mumba

Mumba needs work. He’s not developing to his potential, still roughly the same bowler when he was introduced to us by the Rhinos guy about 5 years back.

Mumbas extra pace and bounce give him an advantage. Nyauchi did well, but sometimes - actually most times - you have to go with the guy who has more potential. To me thats, Mumba.

For example, Abu Jayed is 5'8" and trundles in at 128 clicks. I'd take almost any other BD seamer (except Rubel and Al Amin) over him based on those two facts alone. The only reason I don't is because he's got an auxillary skill (swing) that other BD bowlerss dont and the fact that he's done well over 7-8 Tests now.

Is they any chance Wellington or Shingi Masakadza bouncing back in national colours
Or because Hami is Director of Cricket they are doomed because it would be regarded as favoritism to his brothers

I agree with both Dogg & Kriterion

Mumba hasn't really progressed since we saw him in 2016, in fact he might have regressed, but as Kriterion said he's more of a threat because of his height.

Zimbabwe really needs to make an effort to start finding and producing good fast bowlers, the cupboard is bare and sadly I doubt the people in charge can even identify that.

Zim really seem cursed when it comes to fast bowlers, there's been a few hit the scene in the last decade and none have really come close to their full potential for various reasons.

It should be the easiest thing to find.

Any raw bush nigga can be the next Rabada. You don’t need a lifetime of coaching, like in the way of the next BT. I’m not sure what the ingredients are to be a 140k bowler but I’m pretty sure it can’t be coached into you.

Btw I’m referring to pace only. Line, length and movement is obviously coachable.

But find a 140 plus guy and that is half the work done.
