Blessing Muzarabani hints at Zimbabwe Cricket comeback
Re: Blessing Muzarabani hints at Zimbabwe Cricket comeback
Jarvis interestingly said he had been offered international spots over the last 2 seasons in county cricket but couldnt go for 1 reason or another. With 2 spots per team opening up I wonder if he will ever get another shot at it

I certainly, when they are broadcast. I had concerns about him when I saw him play too. I have not watching him since he has gone to Country, and surely if they are so willing to let him go, there must be reasons why.jaybro wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 7:12 amI sometimes wonder if you even watch Zim games?

Muzarabani was not consistently hitting 87mph...I'm not sure where you've all plucked that one from but he was more in the region of 32-137mph on a good day
Re: Blessing Muzarabani hints at Zimbabwe Cricket comeback
My point was if you bothered to watch the current bunch of seamers bowl you’d know Blessing is easily better than them.
Also enjoy how people phrase things to fit their narrative lol “they are so willing to let him go” the article points at the demise of the Kolpak ruling as to why his three year deal will finish after two

Blessing is Nyauchi with a little bit of extra bounce.
He ranged from 125 to max 135 with about 127 being his stock.
A lot of his success a few years ago came against Scotland etc.
Also peopel forget things like him bowling 5 wides in a row in his second or third game.
A lot of people on this forum also commented on how docile and
Cumbersome he looked on the field with his body language.
He’s still our third but a very distant third.

Yeah, I agree - he's a good third seamer to Jarvis and Chatara. It makes for a shaky tail though... because I think you could mount an argument for someone like Tiripano, if the other two are playing, because he strengthens the lower order.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:12 amBlessing is Nyauchi with a little bit of extra bounce.

But, Muzarabani will come back with a couple of seasons of quality coaching under his belt so you'd hope there's been some improvement in his bowling.
He'd certainly walk into the current line-up in Bangladesh, that's for sure.

I kind of fear that all that quality coaching has resulted in another 128 kph trundler. It was ever thus.brmtaylor.com admin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:35 amBut, Muzarabani will come back with a couple of seasons of quality coaching under his belt so you'd hope there's been some improvement in his bowling.

It could be another Jarvis situation, but you'd hope given his height they would see pace and bounce as a greater asset!foreignfield wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 11:40 amI kind of fear that all that quality coaching has resulted in another 128 kph trundler. The last thing we need is another military medium with a 128kmph effort ball

Re: Blessing Muzarabani hints at Zimbabwe Cricket comeback
What I meant by "consistently" here was what pace he can reach at least 1 ball per over for a spell of at least 4-5 overs long. So suppose you bowl a 5 over spell, and each over you hit 140 clicks, though your average (mathematical mean) might be 135 or so. I'd still consider that to be a 140 (87 mph) bowler and "consistently" hitting 140. Others might well disagree, but I think thats reasonable.
I like to roughly guesstimate the median 50% speed of a bowler, and that is probably the best to classify almost all bowlers in terms of speed. It takes out the slower balls (bottom 25%) and the effort balls (top quartile).
See if you agree with my perception of some bowlers:
Bowler - median 50% range, max speed
Starc (AUS) - 140-146, 150+
Cummins (AUS) - 137-142, ~147
Hazelwood (AUS) - 135-138, 142+
Shami (IND) - 137-142, 145-146
Bumrah (IND - 137-143, 145-147
Umesh (IND) - 135-142, 145+
Ishant (IND) - 132-138, 145
Anderson (ENG) - 130-135, 138
Wood (ENG) - 138-145, ~150
Gabriel (WI) - 138-145, 150+
Shaheen (PAK) - 135-140, 145
Naseem (PAK) - 138-145, 148+
Boult (NZ) - 135-140, 145
Southee (NZ) - 130-135, 140
Wagner (NZ) - 130-135, 140
Rabada (SA) - 137-142, 147
Kumara (SL) - 138-143, 148+
Lakmal (SL) - 132-137, 140+
Jarvis (ZIM) - 125-130, 135+
Chatara (ZIM) 125-130, 135+
Blessing (ZIM) - 132-137, 140+
Tiripano (ZIM) - 125-130, 135
Ebadat (BD) - 133-140, ~145
Jayed (BD) - 125-130, 135
Mustafizur (BD) - 132-137, 142+
So I would classify them as such:
Fast: 140 in the median range (Express subset for those with a max of 150 or higher)
Fast medium: 135 in the median range
Medium fast: 120+ in the median range
Medium: anyone consistenly 119 or lower
Fast medium: 135+ in the median range
