Yes, selecting Dilshan as a keeper was rather cheeky.

Not quite Mahela-esque, though.

There is randomization for WK. Eugene should have picked a proper WK. I too was going to pick another WK but my first choice guys QDK, Bairstow got picked. I still at least have WK, granted one of the poorer ones in the game.

Dilshan was a real keeper in his day, just not much this decade.

I really should of chosen this statistical dream team:

Batsmen
1. Janneman Malan (South Africa) - averages 76.00 from 3 innings
2. Max O'Dowd (c) (Netherlands) - averages 145.00 from 2 innings
3. Faiz Fazal (India) - scored 55* in his only innings
4. Ryan ten Doeschate (Netherlands) - averages 61.40 from 6 innings
5. Ben Foakes (w) (England) - scored 61* in his only innings
6. Aamer Yamin (Pakistan) - averages 95.00 from 3 innings

Bowlers
7. Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) - averages 5.00 from 1 innings
8. Shehan Madushanka (Sri Lanka) - averages 8.66 from 1 innings
9. Jayant Yadav (India) - averages 8.00 from 1 innings
10. Ed Rainsford (Zimbabwe) - averages 11.50 from 3 innings
11. Mthokozisi Shezi (South Africa) - averages 8.00 from 1 innings

I would be curious how this team fares in Kriterion's number crunching!

Good thing you didn't pick that side, because you would have been disqualified for violating the spirit of the competition :D

It’s too late now but there really should have been a ‘minimum qualification’ quota

Dilshan keeping because he kept once in the decade is a joke tbh

Can I pick Mahela as a bowler ?

Picking Dilshan as a keeper was perfectly within the rules.

I was saying your hypothetical "dream" squad above...technically in the rules...but I'd disqualify it had you picked it.

Your current squad is fine. I wouldn't pick Dilshan as my keeper, but I have a less than ideal WK in my XI too (I really thought I'd have space for a better WK).

How exactly does the randomization for the WK work for the keeping role?

I'm not sure you checked his wk stats from 2010 because he was a regular ODI keeper prior to that, but with one innings in 2010 (and no dismissals) he just about qualifies as keeper.
Given this, will none of the wickets eugene's bowlers take through the randomizations be caught behind? I can see Boult and Shami fuming already :)

But given the rules made clear so far, that was excellent strategy by eugene for sure.
